List Of Cities In The European Union By Population Within City Limits
This is a list of the largest cities in the European Union according to the population within their city boundary. The cities listed all have populations over 300,000. The list deals exclusively with the areas within city administrative boundaries as opposed to urban areas or larger urban zones (metropolitan areas), which are generally larger in terms of population than the main city (although they can also be smaller). As some cities have a very narrow boundary and others a very wide one, the list may not give an accurate view of the comparative magnitude of entire urban areas, and thus the figures in the list should be treated with caution. Common examples of confusion are Paris, where the Paris metropolitan area has different boundaries than the city proper, the City of Brussels that is confused with the Brussels-Capital Region, and Portuguese municipalities, where the population of the municipality's core may be significantly lower than the total population within its bo ...

List Of Cities In Ireland
In Ireland, the term ''city'' has somewhat differing meanings in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Historically, city status in the United Kingdom, and before that in the Kingdom of Ireland, was a ceremonial designation. It carried more prestige than the alternative municipal titles "borough", "town" and "township", but gave no extra legal powers. This remains the case in Northern Ireland, which is still part of the United Kingdom. In the Republic of Ireland, "city" has an additional designation in local government. List of Irish cities This list includes places which have at some time had a legally recognised claim to the title "city". Informally the term may have been applied to other places or at other times. Current Cities in Northern Ireland are denoted by a light blue background and "n/a" stands for not applicable. Former History up to 1920 Before the Partition of Ireland in 1920–22, the island formed a single jurisdiction in which "city" had ...

A number of municipalities only contain a single locality, while there are also a few municipalities in which no localities exist. All localities in Iceland can only be located within a single municipality, i.e. they cannot straddle multiple municipality borders. Some municipalities, such as Hafnarfjörður and Akranes, also share the same name with a locality. However, these localities are not always situated in their namesake municipalities. In those cases, this does not necessarily mean that they there are no other localities included in that particular municipality. Even when they are the only locality there, they do not always encompass the span of that municipality's entire land area. List of localities The ...
