Line 8, Shanghai Metro
Line 8 is a north-south line of the Shanghai Metro network. It runs from , in Yangpu District to , in Minhang. The line is colored blue on system maps. History The subway line's first phase began trial operation on September 17, 2007 and officially opened on December 29, 2007, running between and . The second phase, from Yaohua Road to began operation on July 5, 2009. Two stations opened later than the rest of the line: in September 2012 and opened in April 2011. On May 4, 2017 it was announced the third phase had been renamed the Pujiang line, and will be a new long automated people mover line running from Shendu Highway station to Huizhen Road station. Laoximen Station
Laoximen () is an interchange station between Lines Line 8 (Shanghai Metro), 8 and Line 10 (Shanghai Metro), 10 of the Shanghai Metro. It began operation on 29 December 2007 with the opening of Line 8 (Shanghai Metro), line 8. It became an interchange station with the opening of Line 10 (Shanghai Metro), line 10 on 10 April 2010. The name of the station is derived from the Old West Gate (or Laoximen ()) of the Old City of Shanghai, walled Chinese city. Pujiang Line
The Pujiang line () is an automated, driverless, rubber-tired Shanghai Metro line in the town of Pujiang in the Shanghainese district of Minhang. It was originally conceived as phase 3 of Shanghai Metro line 8, but afterwards was constructed as a separate line, connecting with line 8 at its southern terminus, Shendu Highway. A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). Side platforms may result in a wider overall footprint for the station compared with an island platform, where a single width of platform can be shared by riders using either track. A loading gauge is a diagram or physical structure that defines the maximum height and width dimensions in railway vehicles and their loads. Their purpose is to ensure that rail vehicles can pass safely through tunnels and under bridges, and keep clear of platforms, trackside buildings and structures. A medium-capacity system (MCS), also known as light rapid transit or light metro, is a rail transport system with a capacity greater than light rail, but less than typical heavy-rail rapid transit.
