Line 13, Shanghai Metro
Line 13 is a north-west to south-east line of the Shanghai Metro network. It runs between in Jiading and in Pudong. It was once used as a dedicated line (Expo line) for the World Expo to serve the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. The line is colored pink on system maps. History Special Phase The Special Phase of Line 13 operated between and , during the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Following the end of the Expo, this phase was closed. This part of the line reopened on December 19, 2015, along with the full opening of the line. 1st Phase The 1st Phase of Line 13 ran between all the stations between and , with 7 stations. The section opened in December 2012. 2nd Phase and 3rd Phase The two phases ran from to in Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park region. The rest of the line was opened on December 19, 2015. Rapid transit or mass rapid transit (MRT) or heavy rail, commonly referred to as metro, is a type of high-capacity public transport that is generally built in urban areas. A grade separation, grade separated rapid transit line below ground surface through a tunnel can be regionally called a subway, tube, metro or underground. They are sometimes grade-separated on elevated railways, in which case some are referred to as el trains – short for "elevated" – or skytrains. Jing'an District, Shanghai
Jing'an District () is one of the central districts of Shanghai. In 2020, it had 975,707 inhabitants in an area of . The district borders the Hongkou to the east, Huangpu to the east and south, Putuo to the west, Baoshan District to the north and Changning to the west. On 4 November 2015, Zhabei merged with Jing'an District, bringing Shanghai down to 15 districts and one county. Jing'an District is named after Jing'an Temple, an ancient traditional Chinese Buddhist temple. Today's temple is a new replica of the old one, located in the southern part of the district. An Art Deco "dancehall" is just across the street; the neighborhood is largely residential, but with many bars and restaurants. Jing'an Park, located opposite the temple, is popular among locals; it used to be a graveyard for foreigners in the old Shanghai.
