This article gives an overview of ''liberalism in Montenegro''. History Following the fall of communist regime, one of the first parties to emerge was Liberal Alliance (LSCG), a party which advocated liberalism, pacifism, civic concept of the state and supported restoration of Montenegrin independence. It was an active opponent of the ruling DPS-led regime since its formation, all until 2005, when it froze its political activity. Slavko Perović and Miro Vicković were the most prominent officials and held the leading positions in the party throughout its existence. In 2004, nationalist Liberal Party (LP) split from the LSCG, its membership including a number of former high-ranking LSCG officials who were previously ousted from the party due to corruption affair. DEMOS (Montenegro)
DEMOS (acronym of Demokratski savez, ; , ДЕМОС) is a centrist to centre-right political party in Montenegro. Party founder and current leader is Miodrag Lekić, who is also serving as the party's single MP in the Parliament of Montenegro. History Party was founded in 2015 when Miodrag Lekić, leader of the opposition Democratic Front, split from the alliance due to disagreements with its constituent parties, and formed the new moderate right political subject. In September 2016, DEMOS decided to enter the Key Coalition with URA and SNP in order to participate at the forthcoming parliamentary election, winning four parliamentary seats. The early written records of the history of Montenegro begin with Illyria and its various kingdoms until the Roman Republic incorporated the region into Illyricum (Roman province), the province of Illyricum (later Dalmatia (Roman province), Dalmatia and Praevalitana) after the Illyro-Roman Wars. In the Early Middle Ages, Slavic migration led to several Slavic states. In the 9th century, there were three principalities on the territory of Montenegro: Duklja, roughly corresponding to the southern half, Travunia, the west, and Grand Principality of Raška, Rascia, the north. In 1042, Stefan Vojislav led a revolt that resulted in the independence of Duklja and the establishment of the Vojislavljević dynasty. Positive Montenegro () was a centrist, social-liberal political party in Montenegro. The party was founded in May 2012 by former environmental activist Darko Pajović. Movement for Changes (, PZP) is a right-wing populist and far-right political party in Montenegro. Its current leader is Nebojša Medojević, the party's founder. History The party was founded by a group of economists and academics in September 2002 and was modeled after the Group 17 Plus in Serbia. It is led by Nebojša Medojević It operated as a non-governmental organization under the name Group for Changes (, GZP) until July 17, 2006, when it reconstituted itself as a political party. In the 2006 Montenegrin independence referendum, PzP remained neutral and did not campaign for either option, their choice being an outcome without the Movement's involvement. Montenegrin ( / ''Crnogorska''; CG) was a minor national liberal political party in Montenegro, founded in 2017 as the successor to Montenegrin Democratic Union (CDU). The party had no seats in the Parliament of Montenegro, and never contest the national-level parliamentary election. It had 3 members of the Budva local parliament, elected in 2020 from the DPS-led list.
