Lemvig Municipality
Lemvig Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Midtjylland on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in west Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 516.63 km2, and has a population of 18,800 (2025). Its mayor is Erik Flyvholm, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Lemvig. The town has a population of 6,966. The current municipality was enlarged on 1 January 2007 as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007) when the former Thyborøn-Harboøre municipality was merged into the existing Lemvig municipality. A significant part of its southern border is defined by the waters of Bøvling Fjord, Indfjorden and Nissum Fjord. Denmark is divided into five regions of Denmark, regions, which contain 98 municipalities (, ; , ). Parish
A parish is a territorial entity in many Christianity, Christian denominations, constituting a division within a diocese. Christian Democrats (Denmark)
The Christian Democrats (, KD) are a political party in Denmark. The party was founded in April 1970 as the Christian People's Party (, KrF) to oppose the liberalization of restrictions on pornography and the legalization of abortion. Solar System Model
Solar System models, especially mechanical models, called '' orreries'', that illustrate the relative positions and motions of the planets and moons in the Solar System have been built for centuries. While they often showed relative sizes, these models were usually not built to scale. The enormous ratio of interplanetary distances to planetary diameters makes constructing a scale model of the Solar System a challenging task. As one example of the difficulty, the distance between the Earth and the Sun is almost 12,000 times the diameter of the Earth. Lemvig Museum
Lemvig Museum is a local museum in Lemvig, Denmark. It has a number of exhibits about local points of interest, which is the subject of a major multimedia exhibition. Most notably is the exhibition of the Russian frigate Alexander Nevsky which wrecked in September 1868 on the coast between Harboøre and Thyborøn. The museum features works by several local artists including sculptor Torvald Westergaard (1901-1988) and the painters Niels Bjerre (1864–1942), Kristen Bjerre (1869–1943) and Jens Søndergaard (1895-1957) presented at the museum. Also featured as part of the museum is the "Planetary Path," a trail which features a model of the Solar System at a 1 to 1 billion scale. Jens Søndergaard
Jens Søndergaard (October 4, 1895 – May 21, 1957) was a Danish expressionist painter. He specialised in strongly coloured landscapes depicting his feelings for the power of nature and the sea. Søndergaard won both national and international acclaim. Biography Jens Andersen Søndergaard was born in the small town Øster Assels on the island of Mors. His father, Anders Søndergaard, was a painter, but later opened a bicycle shop in Hurup on Thy. After finishing school, Jens Søndergaard also began training as a painter. After having served his apprenticeship, he was admitted to the technical school in Aarhus. While he worked as a painter, he tried to break through as an artist. He succeeded rather quickly, and was admitted to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 1916, where his teacher was Malthe Engekstad.
