Leda (mythology)
In Greek mythology, Leda (; Ancient Greek: Λήδα ), also rendered Lede, was an Aetolian princess who became queen consort of Sparta through her marriage to King Tyndareus. Zeus fell in love with Leda, and to avoid his wife Hera's jealousy, raped her while disguised as a swan. Leda was named as the mother of four famous children in Greek mythology: Helen of Troy, Clytemnestra, and the twins Castor and Pollux. Leda and the Swan was a popular motif in the visual arts, particularly during the Renaissance. TS ''Leda'' was operated by Bergen Line between Britain and Norway as a North Sea ferry for over 20 years from 1953. She was rebuilt in 1981 as a cruise ship, cruise liner and later became an barracks ship, accommodation vessel at a penal colony for terrorists and members of Sicilian Mafia, the Mafia. Leda Sanford, (born October 11, 1933 in Lucca, Italy), is an author, speaker, former publisher, and advertising director. She was the first female publisher of a major national magazine. She became president, publisher and editor-in-chief of the magazine '' American Home'' and the American Home Publishing Company in 1975. Leda Luss Luyken, née Valata, (born 1952 in Athens) is a Greek-American conceptual artist, who lives and works in Germany. Biography Leda Luss-Luyken was educated at the Ecole d'Humanité in Switzerland and studied arts and architecture in Zurich, New York and Manchester. During that time she was particularly influenced by the works of Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies van der Rohe and Richard Neutra as well as Japanese garden architecture. She then began her professional career as an architectural designer and interior architect in New York, working intensively with designs by Charles Eames, Herman Miller and Eero Saarinen.
