Koroivos B.C. Players
Koroivos (, before 1955: Κελεβή - ''Kelevi'') is a village in the municipal unit of Gastouni, Elis, Greece. It is situated in a flat rural area, south of the river Pineios. It is 2 km southeast of Lefkochori, 2 km west of Roupaki, 2 km southwest of Agia Mavra and 4 km east of Gastouni. The village was named after Coroebus of Elis, one of the winners of the first Ancient Olympic Games.Today, there is a Cultural Center in the village, while only a kindergarten is open, since the primary school was closed due to lack of children. In the center of the village dominates the temple of Agia Paraskevi, as well as the large square. The small church of the village cemetery, which is preserved to this day, dates from the era of Ottoman rule. The main activity and source of income for the inhabitants of Koroivos is agriculture and animal husbandry. Western Greece Region (, ) is one of the thirteen Modern regions of Greece, administrative regions of Greece. Elis also known as Ellis or Ilia (, ''Eleia'') is a historic region in the western part of the Peloponnese peninsula of Greece. It is administered as a regional unit of the modern region of Western Greece. Its capital is Pyrgos. Until 2011 it was Elis Prefecture, covering the same territory. The modern regional unit is nearly coterminous with the ancient Elis of the classical period. Here lie the ancient ruins of cities of Elis, Epitalion and Olympia, known for the ancient Olympic Games which started in 776 BC. Gastouni
Gastouni () is a town and a former municipality in Elis, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Pineios, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 59.325 km2. Gastouni is situated in a flat rural area, 5 km from the Ionian Sea. The river Pineios flows into the sea near Gastouni. The town is south of Andravida, east of Vartholomio, northwest of Amaliada and northwest of Pyrgos. He is remembered as the winner (, ''olympioníkes'') of the first recorded Olympics, which consisted of a single footrace known as the stade or stadion.Eusebius.
