Kirana Gharana
The Kirana Gharana is a Hindustani music apprenticeship tradition (''gharana'') made popular by Bande Ali Khan in the 19th Century and his cousins Abdul Karim Khan and Abdul Wahid Khan. Evolved from the instrumental and vocal Gauharbani dhrupad lineages of medieval music maestros Nayak Gopal, Nayak Dhondu, and Nayak Bhanu. Later, this tradition came to be reputed for khayal, thumri, dadra, ghazal, bhajan, abhang, and natya sangeet. This gharana is known for producing acclaimed musicians like Sawai Gandharva, Sureshbabu Mane, Hirabai Barodekar, Amir Khan, Gangubai Hangal, Bhimsen Joshi, Roshanara Begum, Mohammed Rafi, Prabha Atre, Mashkoor Ali Khan Kaivalya Kumar Gurav, Pran Nath, Anand Bhate, Sanhita Nandi, and Jayateerth Mevundi. ''Sangeet Natak'' (Marathi for 'musical drama') is a form of drama which combines prose and poetry in the form of songs to convey the story, similar to musicals. They have played a vital role in the development of Marathi theater and cinema, as well as the Indian film industry. ''Sangeet Nataks'' start with the praise of Lord Natraja, which is called ''Naandi'', ''Mangalaacharan'' or ''Suchakpad'' – usually the famous "Panchatunda Nararundamaldhar" from ''Sangeet Shakuntal''. Sanhita Nandi
Sanhita Nandi is a prominent Hindustani classical music, Hindustani classical vocalist of the Kirana Gharana. The central motif of her style is slow tempo ''raga'' development (voice culture, voice throw, and tonal application) and ornamented ''Sargam (music), sargams''. She is getting guidance under Mashkoor Ali Khan. Early life Sanhita Nandi was trained under the late A. Kanan of Kirana Gharana, the senior most guru at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy.
