Kilgore, officially the City of Kilgore, is a city in Gregg County, Texas, Gregg and Rusk County, Texas, Rusk counties in Texas, United States. Located where Interstate 20 and US 259 converge just south of the Sabine River (Texas–Louisiana), Sabine River. Over three-fourths of the area within city limits are located in Gregg County, the remainder in Rusk County. The population was 12,975 at the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census and 13,376 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. History Kilgore was founded in 1872 when the International–Great Northern Railroad completed the initial phase of rail line between Palestine, Texas, Palestine and Longview, Texas, Longview. Hailey Frances Kilgore is an American actress and singer. Her breakthrough role was as Ti Moune in the Broadway revival of coming-of-age one-act stage musical '' Once on This Island'', a performance for which the 19-year-old was nominated for the 2018 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical, becoming one of the youngest nominees in the category. Theola Kilgore (December 6, 1925 – May 15, 2005) was an American soul and gospel singer. Biography Kilgore was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and was brought up in Oakland, California. She began singing in church. Her first recording, on which she was billed as Theola Kilgord, was as the featured vocalist on "Look to the Hills" by the Mount Zion Spiritual Choir, released in 1955. While working as a gospel singer in the late 1950s, she befriended Sam Cooke's talent manager, J. W. Alexander, who introduced her to singer and record producer, Ed Townsend. Kenneth Kilgore
Kenneth Kilgore (January 26, 1947 – April 14, 2011) was an American jazz musician, a Minister of Music, and an educator. He founded the Ambassadors' Concert Choir in 1979 and the choir performed with other musicians at multiple events. He won several awards and a bridge in Oklahoma City was named in his honor two years after his death. Personal life Kenneth Kilgore was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on January 26, 1947, and spent his childhood there. His father Leonard Kilgore died when Kenneth was 16 years old and his mother was Lola Peters Kilgore. Of all the children his parents had from prior relationships, Kilgore was the youngest child and the only child from his parents' relationship together. Chad Kilgore (born August 8, 1989) is an American former professional football linebacker. He played college football at Northwest Missouri State University. He was a member of the Oakland Raiders, Sacramento Mountain Lions, Saskatchewan Roughriders and Kansas City Chiefs. Early life Kilgore played high school football at Excelsior Springs High School in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. He was a first-team all-state linebacker, first-team all-district and all-conference linebacker and running back. He was also a team captain for the Tigers. Moses Kilgore (March 19, 1817 – October 14, 1890) was an American businessman and politician. Kilgore was born in Lovell, Maine. In 1852, he moved to Racine, Wisconsin.
