Kelowna
Kelowna ( ) is a city on Okanagan Lake in the Okanagan, Okanagan Valley in the British Columbia Interior, southern interior of British Columbia, Canada. It serves as the head office of the Regional District of Central Okanagan. The name Kelowna derives from the Okanagan language, Okanagan word ', referring to a grizzly bear. Kelowna is the province's third-largest Greater Kelowna, metropolitan area (after Greater Vancouver, Vancouver and Greater Victoria, Victoria). It is the List of municipalities in British Columbia, seventh-largest municipality in BC and the largest in the Interior. Tom Dyas
Thomas J. Dyas is a Canadian politician. He has served as the mayor of Kelowna, British Columbia since 2022. Early life Dyas' parents were Thomas "Harry" Dyas, an immigrant from Blackheath, West Midlands, Blackheath, England and Hilda Ann Holtforster, who was born in Trout Creek, Ontario. His parents lived in Oshawa, Ontario. Dyas moved to British Columbia in 1986 to become a sous chef, becoming executive chef of Delta Hotels while living in Whistler, British Columbia, Whistler. In 1987, he created an insurance and financial company called TD Benefits. He would later become the president of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce, serving for two terms until 2018. During this time, he led Kelowna's bid to host the 2020 Memorial Cup (which was later cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic). Stephen Fuhr
Stephen Bradley Fuhr (born May 27, 1969) is a Canadian politician, retired air force officer, and aviation executive who has served as the member of Parliament (MP) for Kelowna in the House of Commons since 2025. A member of the Liberal Party, he previously held this seat from 2015 to 2019 under the previous name Kelowna—Lake Country. Fuhr is also a decorated pilot who served for 20 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), retiring with the rank of Major. Knox Mountain Park
Knox Mountain Park is a natural park and recreation area located in Kelowna, British Columbia, north of the city's core. It is one of the most popular attractions for tourists visiting Okanagan Valley. Apex Trail is a 4.0 kilometre, lightly trafficked out-and-back trail, best used from May till September The park is made up of of forest and grassland and contains a variety of wildlife, such as deer, birds, an occasional grizzly bear and Kokanee salmon that spawn along the lakeshore adjacent to the park. Okanagan Lake
Okanagan Lake () is a lake in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. The lake is long, between wide, and has a surface area of 348 km2 (135 sq. mi.). Hydrography Okanagan Lake is called a fjord lake as it has been carved out by repeated glaciations. Although the lake contains numerous lacustrine terraces, it is not uncommon for the lake to be deep only offshore. Major inflows include Mission, Vernon, Trout, Penticton, Equesis, Kelowna, Peachland and Powers Creeks. The lake is drained by the Okanagan River, which exits the lake's south end via a canal through the city of Penticton to Skaha Lake, whence the river continues southwards into the rest of the South Okanagan and through Okanogan County, Washington to its confluence with the Columbia. Mission Hill Family Estate is a wine grower and producer based in West Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, in the Okanagan Valley (wine), Okanagan Valley wine region. The winery is situated atop Mission Hill overlooking a 145 kilometre lake, mountains and vineyards. History Mission Hill Winery was established in 1966; years later, Anthony von Mandl would create the Mission Hill Family designation. von Mandl was a wine seller in Vancouver during the 1970s and assisted in preparing a feasibility study regarding growing grapes in the area for Josef Milz, a Mosel (wine region), Mosel based winery.
