The Kala Suri (; ) is a Sri Lankan national honour awarded "''for special contributions to the development of the arts''". It is conventionally used as a title or prefix to the awardee's name. Kala Suri ranks lower than Vidya Nidhi. Emblem Of Sri Lanka
The National Emblem of Sri Lanka is used by the State of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankan government in connection with the administration and government of the country. The current emblem has been in use since 1972 and created under the ideas and guidance of Nissanka Wijeyeratne. At the time, he was Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Chairman of the National Emblem and Flag Design Committee. The designer of the emblem was Venerable Mapalagama Wipulasara Maha Thera, and the artwork was by S. M. Seneviratne. The emblem features a gold lion Attitude (heraldry)#Passant, passant, holding a sword in its right fore paw (the same lion from the flag of Sri Lanka) in the centre on a maroon background surrounded by golden petals of a Nelumbo nucifera, Blue Lotus the national flower of the country. Latha Walpola
Deshamanya Matharage Rita Genevieve Fernando, better known by her stage name Latha Walpola (), is a Sri Lankan singer. Her fans refer to her as "The Nightingale of Sri Lanka" Personal life Walpola was born on 11 November 1934 in Mount-Lavinia to Joseph Fernando and Elizabeth Muriel. She was one of five children. Her mother, a teacher, encouraged her to become a singer. Walpola received her primary education at St. Anthony College in Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia, where she led a church choir. She married Dharmadasa Walpola in 1959, becoming known as Latha Walpola. A ceremonial wedding was held at Sirikotha, Kollupitiya. The couple has four sons and one daughter. Jagath Weerasinghe (; born 1954) is a Sri Lankan contemporary artist and archeologist. Weerasinghe has been a significant driving force in the development of Sri Lankan art since the early 1990s. He is Director of the Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology at the University of Kelaniya. He obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours in Painting at the Institute of Aesthetic Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka in 1981. In 1985 he received a Conservation of Wall Paintings, International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) in Rome, which was followed in 1988 by a Conservation of Rock Art from the Getty Conservation Institute in Los Angeles. Jayakody Arachchige Don Edward Timothy Jayakody (; born 6 April 1952), popularly known as Edward Jayakody, is a Sri Lankan musician, singer, composer, and occasional actor.
