Jinn or djinn (), alternatively genies, are supernatural beings in pre-Islamic Arabian religion and Islam. Their existence is generally defined as parallel to humans, as they have free will, are accountable for their deeds, and can be either believers (Muslims#Etymology, Muslims) or disbelievers (''kafir, kuffar'') in God in Islam, God. Since jinn are neither innately evil nor innately good, Islam acknowledged spirits from other religions and could adapt them during Spread of Islam, its expansion. Likewise, jinn are not a strictly Islamic concept; they may represent several pagan beliefs integrated into Islam. ''Junoon'' (translation: ''The Obsession'') is a 1979 Indian Hindi language film produced by Shashi Kapoor and directed by Shyam Benegal. The film is based on Shyam Benegal's fictional novella, '' Parvaz'', set around the Indian Rebellion of 1857. The film's soundtrack was composed by Vanraj Bhatia, and cinematography by Govind Nihalani. Its cast included Shashi Kapoor, his wife Jennifer Kendal, Nafisa Ali, Tom Alter, Shabana Azmi, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Naseeruddin Shah, Deepti Naval, Pearl Padamsee and Sushma Seth. The film also featured Shashi and Jennifer's children Karan Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor, and Sanjana Kapoor. Plot The story is set around the Indian Rebellion of 1857. ''Junoon'' () is a 1992 Indian Hindi-language fantasy horror film directed by Mahesh Bhatt. It stars Pooja Bhatt and Rahul Roy as a young man who is cursed to become a tiger every full moon night. ''Junoon'' was reportedly inspired by the 1981 film ''An American Werewolf in London''. ''Junoon'' makes use of morphing, a special effect in which an image changes (or morphs) into another, to transform a human face into a tiger and back from a tiger to a human. The film was successful at the box office and received favorable reviews. Plot Vikram goes on a hunting trip with his friend Arun into the forest on a full moon night. While in the forest, Vikram is warned by a tribesman named Bheema, to go back home, stating that the night of the full moon is the cursed tiger's night to hunt. Abhijeet Sawant is an Indian singer, television personality, and the winner of first season of ''Indian Idol''. He was the first runner up of '' Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star'' and finished third in ''Asian Idol''. He was also the first runner up of '' Bigg Boss Marathi 5''. Early life Sawant was born on 7 October 1981. He grew up in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra and developed an interest in music. Sawant has revealed that he was not a good student academically, and it was his uncle, a professional artist who guided Sawant in finding his career path. While working on his music career, he studied sound engineering, and IT at University of Mumbai. After graduating from Chetana College of Commerce & Economics, Sawant joined the music industry. Junoon ( ) is a Pakistani sufi rock band from Lahore, Punjab (Pakistani province), Punjab, Pakistan, and Tappan, New York, formed in 1990. The band is directed by founder, lead guitarist and songwriter, Salman Ahmad, who was soon joined by keyboardist Nusrat Hussain, bass guitarist Brian O'Connell (musician), Brian O'Connell and vocalist Ali Azmat. Junoon is Pakistan's and one of South Asia's most successful bands. Since their inception, the group has released a total of nineteen albums: seven studio albums; one soundtrack; two live albums; four video albums; and five compilations. They have sold over 30 million records worldwide. Pioneers of Sufi rock with an original sound, they achieved success during the early 1990s.
