Johnstown is a rural Suburbs and localities (Australia), locality split between the South Burnett Region and the Gympie Region, both in Queensland, Australia. In the , Johnstown had a population of 46 people. Geography Barker Creek (which flows north into Lake Barambah) forms part of the western boundary. The Burnett Highway enters the locality from the north-west (Barambah, Queensland, Barambah) and exits to the south-west (Wyalla, Queensland, Wyalla). The land use is predominantly Pastoralism, grazing on native vegetation. History The locality name is derived from a pastoral run held in 1854 by John Stephen Ferriter. The run is shown on an 1872 map of Southern Queensland, south of the Stephenton run which was also held by Ferriter, suggesting the names of the runs derive from Ferriter's given names. Johnstown is a city in Licking County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,182 at the 2020 census and was estimated to be 5,310 in 2023. The city is most notable for the finding of a nearly complete mastodon skeleton under the city. History Johnstown is part of a four thousand acre (16 km2) tract of land deeded to John Brown, a revolutionary soldier, by President John Adams for military services in 1800. Brown sold the property in 1810 for $2.50 per acre, or $10,000, to Dr. Oliver Bigelow. Dr. Bigelow laid out and incorporated the village of Johnstown, donating the streets, alleys and the town square. In 1926 a nearly complete skeleton of a mastodon was found by a farmer named James Bailey, and subsequently sold to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. Johnstown is a town located in Fulton County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, the town had a population of 7,098. The name of the town is from landowner William Johnson. The town of Johnstown is located on the southern border of the county. It borders on three sides the city of Johnstown and the city of Gloversville. History Johnstown was founded by William Johnson, a British military officer and colonial government official, in a region once known as "Kingsborough". Johnson named the settlement after his son, John Johnson, and by 1762 constructed a baronial hall. In 1781, during the American Revolution, colonial forces, consisting of militia and Oneida allies, were victorious over a mixed force of Loyalists and Native allies.
