Israeli Basketball League Cup
The Israeli Basketball League Cup is a pre-season professional basketball tournament that is contested between sports clubs, clubs. It has been held in Israel since 2006. It is held during the week before the start of the Israeli Basketball Premier League, Israeli Premier League season. The Israeli League Cup tournament is currently sponsored by Pais Lotto, and therefore it is officially known as the Chance Cup. Previously, the tournament was sponsored by the Toto Winner Organization, and it was known as the Winner Cup, from 2006 to 2009. In 2010, it had no sponsor, and therefore the tournament was named Basketball League Cup. Competition system The top eight teams of the previous season's Israeli Basketball Premier League, Israeli Premier League compete in this tournament. 2006 Winner Cup
Winner Cup 2006 is the 1st edition of the Israeli basketball pre-season tournament - Winner Cup. It was played on 15 October-19 October in Jerusalem at the Malha Arena, during the jewish holiday of Sukkot. Ironi Ashkelon has won the cup after beating Maccabi Rishon LeZion (basketball), Maccabi Rishon LeZion 79-73 in the final. Withdrawals The teams that finished at the top eight places on Ligat HaAl (basketball) 2005–06, Basketball Super League 2005–06 were supposed to compete in the tournament. Maccabi Tel Aviv B.C., Maccabi Tel Aviv that finished 1st in the 2005-06 season has withdrawn from the tournament due to schedule problems. Hapoel Tel Aviv B.C., Hapoel Tel Aviv that finished on the 8th place was relegated to the 2nd division due to financial problems and was not eligible to compete in the tournament. Hapoel (, ) is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the Mandate for Palestine, British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi World Union, Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of Israel Football Association, football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. 2012 Israeli Basketball League Cup
The 2012 Israeli Basketball League Cup was the 7th edition of the Israeli Basketball League Cup pre-season tournament. It plays between October 2 and October 6 mainly at Romema Arena in Haifa, as Kiryat Ata Hall hosted two quarterfinals games. Teams Participating As the format states, the top eight teams on the 2011–12 Israeli Super League should have competed in the tournament. However, two changes were made. Lior Eliyahu (; born 9 September 1985) is an Israeli former professional basketball player. He is 2.06 m (6 ft 9 in) in height and he weighs 105 kg (225 pounds). He plays at the Power forward (basketball), power forward position. He was named the 2012 and 2015 Israeli Basketball Premier League MVP. Early life Eliyahu is Jewish, and was born in Ramat-Gan, Israel. Hapoel Holon Basketball Club (), is a professional basketball club based in Holon, Israel. The team plays in the Israeli Basketball Premier League (the top tier of Israeli basketball), and internationally in the Basketball Champions League. Jeremy Raymon Pargo (born March 17, 1986) is an American professional basketball player for Grindavík of the Úrvalsdeild karla. He played college basketball for the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Chester Simmons III (born July 24, 1982), better known as Tre Simmons, is an American former professional basketball player and current coach. He played college basketball for Odessa, Green River CC and Washington before playing professionally in Greece, Spain, Israel, Czech Republic, Russia, Puerto Rico and France. Timothy Jermaine Bowers (born January 9, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player. He was named the 2006 Israeli Basketball Premier League MVP. At 6' 2", he is capable of playing both guard positions. Early life He grew up in Gulfport, Mississippi where he graduated from Harrison Central High School.
