Iowa Official Register
The Iowa Official Register, also called the Redbook or Red Book, is a publication of the Iowa, State of Iowa. It contains mini-biographies and photos of Iowa's elected and appointed officials, records of elections, essays on selected topics in Iowa history, and general statistics of the state, among other topics. It was first authorized by law by Iowa's 24th Iowa General Assembly, General Assembly in 1892, with an official mandate to include "historical, political, and other statistics of general value, but nothing of a partisan character," though earlier editions had been published, primarily by Iowa Secretary of State, Iowa Secretaries of State. The book's origins can be traced to the 7-page 1860 booklet entitled "Eighth General Assembly," and the name "Iowa Official Register" was first used in a 19-page 1873 booklet, though it appeared under other titles during the following years. The Iowa House of Representatives is the lower house of the Iowa General Assembly, the upper house being the Iowa Senate. There are 100 seats in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing 100 single-member districts across the state, formed by dividing the 50 Senate districts in half. Each district has a population of approximately 30,464 . The House of Representatives meets at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines, Iowa, Des Moines. Randy Feenstra
Randall Lee Feenstra (born January 14, 1969) is an American politician and businessman serving as the U.S. representative for Iowa's 4th congressional district. The district covers the state's western border and its northwestern quadrant, including Sioux City, Ames, Council Bluffs, and Marshalltown. Feenstra is retiring in 2026 to run for Governor of Iowa. A member of the Republican Party, Feenstra served in the Iowa Senate from the 2nd district from 2009 to 2021. He was the Sioux County treasurer from 2006 to 2008. Zachary Martin Nunn (born May 4, 1979) is an American politician and United States Air Force officer who has served as the U.S. representative for Iowa's 3rd congressional district since 2023. A member of the Republican Party, he was a member of the Iowa Senate for the 15th district from 2019 to 2023 and the Iowa House of Representatives for the 30th district from 2015 to 2019. Ashley Elizabeth Hinson (born June 27, 1983) is an American politician and journalist serving as the U.S. representative for Iowa's 2nd congressional district since 2021. The district, numbered as the 1st district during her first term, covers much of northeastern Iowa, including Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, and Dubuque. Mariannette Jane Miller-Meeks (born September 6, 1955) is an American physician and politician who has served as a U.S. representative from Iowa since 2021. A member of the Republican Party, she represents the state's 1st congressional district. Her district, numbered as the 2nd district in her first term, includes most of Iowa's southeastern quadrant, including Davenport, Bettendorf, Burlington, and Iowa City. Miller-Meeks previously served as the Iowa state senator from the 41st district from 2019 to 2021. Miller-Meeks ran three unsuccessful campaigns for the U.S. House against Dave Loebsack.
