International Renewable Energy Agency
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is an intergovernmental organization mandated to facilitate cooperation, advance knowledge, and promote the adoption and sustainable use of renewable energy. It is the first international organisation to focus exclusively on renewable energy, addressing needs in both industrialised and developing countries. It was founded in 2009, and its statute entered into force on 8 July 2010. The agency is headquartered in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi. The Director-General of IRENA is Francesco La Camera, a national of Italy. IRENA is an official United Nations observer. Hélène Pelosse
Hélène Pelosse (born 5 March 1970) was the first elected Interim Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). She served in this position for 15 months, from 30 June 2009 until 19 October 2010. Biography Pelosse is a citizen of France and was born in Montreal, Canada. She graduated from the École nationale d'administration and the École supérieure des sciences économiques et commerciales. After graduation, she worked in the Inspectorate General of Finances in the Ministry of Finance of France. In 1999–2001, Pelosse worked for Saint-Gobain.
