Indian National Congress (Socialist)
Indian Congress (Socialist) (IC(S)) also known as Congress (Secular) was a political party in India between 1978 and 1986. The party was formed through a split in the Indian National Congress. Initially the party was known as the Indian National Congress (Urs) and was led by D. Devraj Urs. It broke away from the parent party in 1978 following Indira Gandhi's drubbing in the 1977 General Elections. Urs took with him many legislators from Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra and Goa including future Union Ministers and Chief Ministers A.K. Antony, Sharad Pawar, Dev Kant Baruah, Priyaranjan Das Munshi, Sarat Chandra Sinha, K. P. Unnikrishnan and Mohammad Yunus Saleem. When Sharad Pawar took over the party presidency in October 1981, the name of the party was changed to Indian Congress (Socialist). Sharad Pawar
Sharadchandra Govindrao Pawar (, pronunciation: Help:IPA/Marathi, [ʃəɾəd̪ pəʋaːɾ], born 12 December 1940) is an Indian politician. Pawar served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for four terms and in the Union Council of Ministers as the Minister of Defence (India), Minister of Defence in the Rao ministry, Cabinet of P.V. Narasimha Rao as well as the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Minister of Agriculture in the Cabinet of Manmohan Singh. He is the first and only president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which he founded in 1999, after separating from the Indian National Congress. Currently, Pawar leads his faction of the NCP in the Rajya Sabha, the upper chamber of the Indian parliament. The Janata Party (JP, ) is an unrecognised political party in India. Navneet Chaturvedi is the current president of the party since November 2021, replacing Jaiprakash Bandhu. Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) (DIC(K)) was a political party in Kerala, India. DIC(K) was founded at a meeting in Thrissur by the Kannoth Karunakaran, K. Karunakuran faction of the Indian National Congress on 1 May 2005. Initially it was called National Congress (Indira Gandhi, Indira), but the name was changed DIC(K) for registration purposes in August of the same year. Karunakuran's son K. Muraleedharan was the party president. The party allied with the Left Democratic Front (Kerala), Left Democratic Front in the local elections and made success. But the party was not considered for a tie up during the state assembly elections that followed. The party could not make any impression in the elections as expected. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) is an alliance of left-wing political parties led by Communist Party of India (Marxist) in the Indian state of Kerala. It is the current ruling political alliance of Kerala, since 2016. It is one of the two major political alliances in Kerala, the other being Indian National Congress-led United Democratic Front, each of which has been in power alternately for the last four decades. Kadannappalli Ramachandran (born 1 July 1944) is an Indian politician who is serving as the Minister for Ports, Museums, Archaeology and Archives of Kerala since December 2023.
