INF Vichy
The Institut National du Football de Vichy, more commonly known as INF Vichy, was a Youth system, football academy based in Vichy, France. Founded in 1972 by the French Football Federation, it was dissolved in 1990. The academy had a team that competed in the French Division 3 (1971–1993), Division 3. History The Institut National du Football de Vichy opened its doors on 6 November 1972. It was an initiative by the French Football Federation, in cooperation with the ''Groupement du Football Professionnel'' and the Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels. It functioned in conjunction with the of Vichy, which opened at the same time as the academy. INF Vichy would include 40 players over the age of 16 in its first year. The first director of the CREPS housing and of INF Vichy was Jean Forestier. Youth System
In sporting terminology, a youth system (or youth academy) is a youth investment program within a particular team or league, which develops and nurtures young talent in farm teams, with the vision of using them in the first team if they show enough potential. In contrast to most professional sports in the United States where the high school and collegiate system is responsible for developing young sports people, most football and basketball clubs, especially in Europe and Latin America, take responsibility for developing their own players of the future. A subset of youth academies are referred to as elite academies, designated for teenagers and young adults. These academies typically have a higher cost of capital incurred for maintaining an optimal environment for practice as well as cups and other competitions that may be partaken. Christian Damiano
Christian Damiano (born 9 March 1950) is a French former professional football player and manager. Playing career As a player, Damiano was a defender. Early in his youth career, he played for , but he would then join the youth academy of Nice. He played for the B team of the club in the early 1970s. Managerial career Damiano stopped playing football in 1974, at the age of 24. From 1974 to 1983, he was simultaneously head of the youth academy and assistant manager of the first team of Nice. From 1983 to 1986, he would then coach Stade Raphaëlois. He would also have various roles at the French Football Federation in this time period. In 1986, Damiano became a coach at INF Vichy, a football academy. However, after it closed in 1990, he went to work as a coach for its counterpart INF Clairefontaine for two years. Erick Mombaerts (born 21 April 1955) is a French football manager and former player. Playing career Mombaerts is a youth product of INF Vichy. He went on to play for Nœux-les-Mines and Montluçon before retiring in 1984. Coaching career Mombaerts began his coaching career with Paris Saint-Germain, taking charge between October 1987 and February 1988. Mombaerts was manager of Guingamp during the 1989–90 season. He then managed Cannes between January 1992 and December 1992, and Toulouse from 2001 to 2006. While with Toulouse he won the Ligue 2 championship in 2003.
