I.O.I (; also known as IOI or Ideal of Idol) was a South Korean girl group formed by CJ E&M through the 2016 reality show ''Produce 101'' on Mnet (TV channel), Mnet. The group was composed of eleven members chosen from a pool of 101 trainees from various entertainment companies: Jeon Somi, Jeon So-mi, Kim Se-jeong, Choi Yoo-jung (singer), Choi Yoo-jung, Chung Ha, Kim Chung-ha, Kim So-hye, Zhou Jieqiong, Jung Chae-yeon, Kim Do-yeon (singer), Kim Do-yeon, Kang Mi-na, Lim Na-young, and Yoo Yeon-jung. They debuted on May 4, 2016, with the Extended play, EP ''Chrysalis (EP), Chrysalis'' and actively promoted as a whole and as a sub-unit for less than a year. The group's concert titled ''Time Slip – I.O.I'', which was held on January 20 to 22, 2017, marked their last group activity on stage. Lim Na-young
Lim Na-young (; born December 18, 1995) is a South Korean actress, singer and rapper signed under Mask Studio. She was best known for finishing tenth in Mnet's reality survival show ''Produce 101 (season 1), Produce 101''. She is a former member and leader of the South Korean girl groups I.O.I and Pristin. Early life and education Lim was born on December 18, 1995. She attended the Muhak Girls' High School and graduated from Dongduk Women's University. Career 2016: ''Produce 101'' and debut with I.O.I From January 22 to April 1, 2016, Lim participated in Mnet (TV channel), Mnet's survival television show, ''Produce 101 (season 1), Produce 101'', which consisted of 101 female trainees from different agencies in South Korea. Produce 101 (season 1)
''Produce 101'' () is a reality competition show created by Mnet. It premiered on January 22, 2016, at 22:00 KST and aired every Friday. It is the first season of the South Korean version of the franchise of the same name. The second season premiered on April 7, 2017, this time featuring all male contestants. Concept and format ''Produce 101'' was a large-scale girl group unit project produced by CJ ENM and Signal Entertainment Group for Mnet. The show was produced in collaboration with 46 entertainment companies from both inside and outside of South Korea. At about four billion won (approximately $3.33 million), it had the second-largest budget out of all Mnet TV programs at the time. Astro (; stylized in all caps) is a South Korean boy band formed by Fantagio. The group is composed of four members: MJ (South Korean singer), MJ, Jinjin, Cha Eun-woo, and Yoon San-ha. Originally a sextet, Rocky (singer), Rocky departed from the group on February 28, 2023, and Moonbin died on April 19, 2023. ''Sixteen'' (stylized in all caps; ) is a 2015 reality girl group survival show created by JYP Entertainment and Mnet. The show pitted sixteen trainees against one another to secure a spot in the girl group Twice. ''Sixteen'' contestants were assessed not just by their singing and dancing abilities but also their charisma and personality. The show ran from May 5 to July 7 on Mnet for ten episodes. Pre-show promotions Starting on April 13, 2015, JYP Entertainment (JYPE) began releasing profiles of the 16 candidates through Mnet's channel and the official ''Sixteen'' YouTube channel. K-pop Star 2
The second season of the South Korean reality television competition show ''K-pop Star'' premiered on SBS on November 18, 2012, airing Sunday evenings at 4:55 pm KST as part of the '' Good Sunday'' lineup. Yoon Do-hyun returned as host and narrator, and Boom returned as live host. Yang Hyun-suk, Park Jin-young, and BoA returned as judges. Chrysalis (EP)
''Chrysalis'' is the debut extended play by the South Korean girl group I.O.I, a special group created through the 2016 Mnet survival show ''Produce 101'', composed of eleven trainees from different entertainment companies that will promote for a year under YMC Entertainment. The album was released digitally on May 4, 2016 and physically on May 9 with the single "Dream Girls" in two versions, a standard edition and a special edition. Music Network (acronym of the Mnet) is a South Korean pay television music channel owned by CJ ENM Entertainment Division.
