Hyundai Group
Hyundai Group (; ) is a South Korean conglomerate founded by Chung Ju-yung. The group was founded in 1947 Hyundai Engineering & Construction, as a construction company. With government assistance, Chung and his family members rapidly expanded into various industries, eventually becoming South Korea's second chaebol. Chung Ju-yung was directly in control of the company until his death in 2001. The company spun off many of its better known businesses after the 1997 Asian financial crisis and founder Chung Ju-yung's death, including Hyundai Motor Group, Hyundai Department Store Group, and Hyundai Heavy Industries Group. The Hyundai Group now focuses on elevators and tourism to Mount Kumgang. Etymology The name "Hyundai" comes from the Korean word (), meaning "modernity". Chung Ju-yung
Chung Ju-yung or Jung Joo-young (; 25 November 1915 – 21 March 2001) was a South Korean entrepreneur and the founder of Hyundai Group, Hyundai Group, one of the largest chaebols in South Korea. Raised as the eldest son of a poor Korean farmer, Chung was an integral part of the rapid development of Korea's economy, growing Hyundai Heavy Industries into the largest Shipbuilding, shipbuilder in the world, as well as increasing Hyundai Motor Group into the largest automobile manufacturer in Korea and the third largest in the world. Chung was also a vital contributor to the development of South Korea's infrastructure after the Korean War; with President Park Chung Hee, Chung constructed the Gyeongbu Expressway to connect Seoul to Busan in 1970. IBM PC Compatible
An IBM PC compatible is any personal computer that is hardware- and software-compatible with the IBM Personal Computer (IBM PC) and its subsequent models. Kaesong Industrial Complex
The Kaesŏng Industrial Region (KIR) or Kaesŏng Industrial Zone (KIZ) is a special administrative industrial region of North Korea (DPRK). It was formed in 2002 from part of the Kaesŏng Directly-Governed City. On 10 February 2016, it was temporarily closed by the South Korean government and all staff recalled by the Park Geun-hye administration, although the former President of South Korea, Moon Jae-in, signalled his desire to "reopen and expand" the region in 2017. Hyundai Asan () is an arm of the South Korean conglomerate Hyundai Group and a major investor in North Korea.
