Hubli Railway Division
Hubballi railway division is one of the three railway divisions under the jurisdiction of South Western Railway zone of the Indian Railways. It was formed on 5 November 1951 and its headquarter is located at Hubli, Hubballi in the state of Karnataka of India. Bangalore railway division, Bengaluru railway division and Mysore railway division, Mysuru railway division are the other railway divisions under SWR Zone headquartered at Hubli, Hubballi. South Western Railway Zone
The South Western Railway (SWR) is one of the 19 Indian Railways, railway zones of Indian Railways, headquartered at Hubballi in the States and union territories of India, Indian state of Karnataka. SWR was created from carving out the routes from Southern Railway zone, Southern Railways, South Central Railway zone, South Central Railways and Central Railway zone, Central Railways in 2003. History The South Western Railway zone came into existence on 1 April 2003 by bifurcating Mysuru and Bengaluru divisions from Southern Railway along with Hubballi division from South Central Railway. It is headquartered at Hubballi and comprises three divisions namely Hubballi, Mysuru, and Bengaluru. The fourth division at Kalaburagi was slated to be the fourth division which was supposed to be carved out from Hubli, Secunderabad, Guntakal and Solapur divisions. Hospet (officially Hosapete) is the largest and fastest-growing industrial city and district headquarters of the Vijayanagara district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Indian Railways is a statutory body under the ownership of the Ministry of Railways of the Government of India that operates India's national railway system. It is headed by a Railway Board whose chairman reports to the Ministry of Railways. It is organized into separate functional groups or verticals while divided into 19 operational zones geographically. Rayadurg–Tumkur section is an ongoing broad-gauge railway line project in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. It connects Rayadurg in Andhra Pradesh with Tumkur in Karnataka.
