Tver (, ) is a types of inhabited localities in Russia, city and the administrative centre of Tver Oblast, Russia. It is situated at the confluence of the Volga and Tvertsa rivers. Tver is located northwest of Moscow. Population: The city is situated where three rivers meet, splitting the town into northern and southern parts by the Volga, and divided again into quarters by the Tvertsa River, which splits the left (northern) bank into east and west halves, and the Tmaka River which does the same along the southern bank. Nikolai Nikolayevich Durnovo (; – 27 October 1937) was a Russian linguist. He was sentenced to death and shot during the Great Purge. Biography Durnovo was born into the Durnovo family. His father was also named Nikolai Nikolayevich Durnovo, and his paternal grandmother was a member of the noble House of Saltykov. Durnovo was a member of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1924) and the Belarusian Academy of Sciences and specialised in Russian language dialectology, the history of Russian and Slavic languages, Russian language morphology theory of grammar, as well as ancient literature. He created a classification of Russian dialects that served as a base for modern scientific linguistic nomenclature. The Narodniks were members of a movement of the Russian Empire intelligentsia in the 1860s and 1870s, some of whom became involved in revolutionary agitation against tsarism. Pyotr Nikolaevich Durnovo () (1845 in Moscow Governorate – in Petrograd) was an Imperial Russian lawyer, politician, and member of Russian nobility belonged to House of Durnovo. Known by anti-Tsarist revolutionaries in the era of the Russian Revolution of 1905 as "the counter-revolution's butcher." The Order of Lenin Moscow Military District () is a Military districts of Russia, military district of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Originally it was a district of the Imperial Russian Army until the Russian Empire's collapse in 1917. It was then part of the Soviet Armed Forces. Pyotr Pavlovich Durnovo was Moscow's Governor General during the 1905 Russian Revolution. His dacha became the site of an anarchist occupation in 1917. From 1881 to July 1917 he was the vowel of the Saint Petersburg City Duma (chairman from 1904). In the provincial zemstvo meeting, he was elected a member of the City Council, chairman of the Permanent Financial Commission of the City Council of St. Petersburg. He served as Russian Council of Ministers, Chairman of the Committee of Ministers between 1895 and 1903, the precursor to the post of Prime Minister of Russia, prime minister. Aleksey Mikhailovich Durnovo (; 1792 – after 1841) was a Russian squire and landlord in Chernsky District of Tula Oblast, Russia. The son of a landowner in the village of Spasskoe Durnovo, he attended a boarding school at Moscow University at the same time as Russian diplomat, playwright, poet, and composer Alexander Griboyedov (who enrolled as a student on December 22, 1803). He served in the military engineering corps, in the 2nd Pioneer Regiment, and retired in 1811 with the rank of lieutenant. He was a member of the militia during the war. He was well known as an amateur musician. In 1827 he married Maria Sergeyevna Durnovo (Griboyedova), the sister of Alexander Griboyedov.
