Horsham () is a market town on the upper reaches of the River Arun on the fringe of the Weald in West Sussex, England. The town is south south-west of London, north-west of Brighton and north-east of the county town of Chichester. Nearby towns include Crawley to the north-east and Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill to the south-east. It is the administrative centre of the Horsham (district), Horsham district. Horsham is a non-metropolitan district, local government district in West Sussex, England. It is named after the town of Horsham, which is its largest settlement and where the council is based. The district also includes the surrounding rural area and contains many villages, the largest of which are Southwater and Billingshurst. John Milne (British Politician)
John Laurence Milne is a British Liberal Democrat politician who has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Horsham since 2024. He has also served as a member of West Sussex County Council since 2021 and Horsham District Council since 2019. Early life and education Milne grew up in Epsom and was educated at Glyn Grammar School. He was awarded a scholarship and studied at the University of Oxford, gaining a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English literature. Prior to entering politics, Milne worked as a creative director in advertising. Political career Milne was elected as a member of Horsham District Council for Roffey North in the 2019 election, and for Denne in the 2023 election. Broadbridge Heath is a village and civil parish in the Horsham district of West Sussex, England. It is about two miles (3 km) west from the historic centre of Horsham. The population of Broadbridge Heath has increased considerably in the first two decades of the twenty-first century because of large scale housing development (79% from 2013 to 2019 according to Office For National Statistics). Jeremy Quin
Sir Jeremy Mark Quin (born 24 September 1968) is a British Conservative politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Horsham from 2015–2024. He served as Minister of State for Defence Procurement from February 2020 to September 2022 before briefly serving as Minister of State for Crime, Policing and Fire during which time he oversaw security arrangements for Queen Elizabeth II's funeral. Following this, Rishi Sunak appointed him to be Paymaster General and Minister for the Cabinet Office. Quin resigned from Sunak's government in the November 2023 British cabinet reshuffle and was knighted in the 2023 Political Honours for public and political service. Southwater
Southwater is a large village and civil parish in the Horsham District of West Sussex, England, with a population of roughly 10,000. It is administered within Horsham District Council and West Sussex County Council. History One of the oldest buildings in the parish is Great House Farmhouse, a listed building at Grade II* built in 1462 from a late medieval structure in the Tudor period just west of the town. In the early 19th century Southwater was predominately a collection of large estates divided into leased farms.
