Jiro Horikoshi
was a Japanese aeronautical engineer. He was the chief engineer of several Empire of Japan, Japanese Fighter aircraft, fighter aircraft designs used during World War II, most notably the Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter, as well as the NAMC YS-11. Early life Jiro Horikoshi was born near the city of Fujioka, Gunma, Fujioka, Gunma Prefecture, Japan, in 1903. Horikoshi graduated from the newly established Aviation Laboratory (Kōkū Kenkyūjo) within the Engineering Department of the University of Tokyo, and started his career in Mitsubishi Internal Combustion Engine Company Limited, which later became Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Nagoya Aircraft Manufacturing Plant. Engineering career One of Jiro Horikoshi's first works was the flawed Mitsubishi 1MF10, an experimental aircraft that never passed the prototype stage after some flight tests. Kōhei Horikoshi
is a Japanese manga artist known for creating the manga series '' Oumagadoki Zoo'', '' Barrage'', and ''My Hero Academia'', all of which have been serialized in Shueisha's ''shōnen'' manga magazine ''Weekly Shōnen Jump''. His latter work had over 100 million copies in circulation by April 2024, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time. Horikoshi is a graduate of Toho High School and Nagoya University of Arts and is a native of Aichi Prefecture. He was a former assistant for , creator of the manga series ''Summer Time Rendering'', ''Hitomi no Catoblepas'', and ''Kagijin''. Horikoshi High School
is a private high school in Nakano, Tokyo, Japan. The school was founded by Chiyo Horikoshi in 1923. Due to its trait course (formerly the entertainment activities course) and the physical education course for entertainers and athletes who have difficulty attending school full-time, Horikoshi High School has been attended by many Japanese celebrities. History In April 1923, Chiyo Horikoshi, who had founded Wayo Sewing Girls' School, a predecessor of Wayo Women's University, established Horikoshi Girls' High School. The school was reorganized as Horikoshi Junior High School and Horikoshi High School in 1947; four years later, the school would be renamed Horikoshi Gakuen Educational Corporation under the Private Schools Act.
