History Of Kryvyi Rih
Kryvyi Rih ( ; , ), also known as Krivoy Rog ( ), is a city in central Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Kryvyi Rih Raion and its subordinate Kryvyi Rih urban hromada in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The city is part of the Kryvyi Rih Metropolitan Region. Its population is estimated at making it the seventh-most populous city in Ukraine and the second largest by area. Kryvyi Rih is claimed to be the longest city in Europe. Located at the confluence of the Saksahan and Inhulets rivers, Kryvyi Rih was founded as a military staging post in 1775. Urban-industrial growth followed Belgian, French and British investment in the exploitation of the area's rich iron-ore deposits, generally called Kryvbas, in the 1880s. Oleksandr Yuriyovych Vilkul (; born 24 May 1974), also known as Aleksandr Yuryevich Vilkul () is a Ukrainian businessman and politician who is currently serving as Head of the Ukrainian Military Administration of Kryvyi Rih. He has previously served as Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Born in Kryvyi Rih in 1974, Vilkul originally pursued a career in mining, eventually becoming manager. In 2003, he joined the Party of Regions, becoming a People's Deputy of Ukraine in 2006. He served in the role until being appointed as Governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast by President Viktor Yanukovych in March 2010. He served in the role for two years before being appointed as Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for infrastructure, regional development, construction, utilities, and housing economy, a position he served in until the Revolution of Dignity. A people's deputy of Ukraine (, ) is a member of parliament and legislator elected by Direct election, popular vote to the Verkhovna Rada, the parliament of Ukraine. Kryvyi Rih City Council is an administrative division and a local government body in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The administrative center is Kryvyi Rih. Overview The City Council Assambly of the city makes up the administration's legislative branch, thus effectively making it a city council (or ''rada''). The municipal council is made up of 54 elected members, who are each elected to represent a certain district of the city for a five-year term. Yuri Vilkul
Yurii Hryhorovych Vilkul (; born 14 November, 1949) is a Ukrainian politician, who served first as elected mayor of Kryvyi Rih from 2010 to 2020, then later again as acting mayor since 2021. He is currently a member of Vilkul Bloc – Ukrainian Perspective, which is led by his son Oleksandr Vilkul. Political Career Mayor of Kryvyi Rih In the 2010 Ukrainian local elections, Vilkul won the Kryvyi Rih mayoral election, securing his first term in office. Inhuletsky District (') is the southernmost urban district of Kryvyi Rih city, central-southern Ukraine. Named after the river Inhulets that flows through the area.
