Hib-Tone Singles
Hib-Tone is an American recording label, based in Atlanta, Georgia, founded by Jonny Hibbert, a law student at Woodrow Wilson College of Law, in 1981. The label has released eight records, including two full-length albums by the bands Design and RF and the Radar Angels. The most recent release is by singer-songwriter Noёl Hamilton. The label is notable because it released R.E.M.'s debut single "Radio Free Europe" and its B-side "Sitting Still". "Radio Free Europe" was re-recorded and released on the band's first full-length album, '' Murmur''. "Sitting Still" was remixed by Mitch Easter and also included on ''Murmur''. The mix produced by Hibbert and engineered by Easter of the "Hib-Tone" version of "Radio Free Europe" was subsequently released on R.E.M.'s 1988 compilation album ''Eponymous''. Jezebel (Frankie Laine Song)
"Jezebel" is a 1951 popular song written by American songwriter Wayne Shanklin. It was recorded by Frankie Laine with the Norman Luboff Choir and Mitch Miller and his orchestra on April 4, 1951 and released by Columbia Records as catalog number 39367. The record reached number 2 on the ''Billboard'' chart and was a million seller. The B-side, " Rose, Rose, I Love You", was a hit too and reached number 3. Background The title refers to the biblical woman Jezebel, a wicked, Baal-worshipping Phoenician princess who ruled Israel as queen consort to King Ahab. Harlem Nocturne
"Harlem Nocturne" is a jazz standard written by Earle Hagen (music) and Dick Rogers (lyrics) in 1939 for the Ray Noble orchestra, of which they were members. The song was chosen by the big-band leader Randy Brooks the next year as his theme song. The version by the Viscounts has the distinction of being released twice and rising high on the ''Billboard'' charts each time: first in 1959, when it peaked at #52, and again in 1966, peaking at #39 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. "Harlem Nocturne", in a version with Bud Shank on alto sax, was the theme song of the television series '' Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer'' and ''The New Mike Hammer''. Hampton Grease Band
The Hampton Grease Band was an American rock band, beginning as a blues rock group in the late 1960s in Atlanta, Georgia. They performed with several major bands in this period, including Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers. The band gained a reputation for wacky stage antics, and eventually garnered enough attention to sign to Columbia Records. They recorded the double album '' Music to Eat'' (June 1971), which is apocryphally said to have been the second-lowest selling album in Columbia's history, second only to a yoga instructional record. This record compared with Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention, and Pere Ubu. The band then signed to Frank Zappa's Bizarre and Straight labels, but broke up in 1973.
