Diamond League
The Diamond League is an annual series of elite track and field athletic competitions comprising fifteen invitational athletics meetings. The series sits in the top tier of the World Athletics one-day meet competitions. The inaugural season was in 2010. It was designed to replace the IAAF Golden League, which had been held annually since 1998. The full sponsorship name is the Wanda Diamond League, the result of an agreement with Wanda Group that was announced in December 2019. While the Golden League was formed to increase the profile of the leading European athletics competitions, the Diamond League's aim is to "enhance the worldwide appeal of athletics by going outside Europe for the first time." Stade Louis II
The Stade Louis II (, ), or simply Louis II is a stadium located in the Fontvieille district of Monaco, near the border with Cap-d'Ail commune of France. It serves primarily as a venue for Athletics and football, being the home of AS Monaco. The stadium is most notable for its distinctive nine arches at the away end of the ground. The arena is also used for the Herculis, a track and field meet of the Diamond League. The stadium hosted the 1986 and 1998–2012 UEFA Super Cup matches. 1989 IAAF Grand Prix Final
The 1989 IAAF Grand Prix Final was the fifth edition of the season-ending competition for the IAAF Grand Prix track and field circuit, organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations. It was held on 1 September at the Stade Louis II in Fontvieille, Monaco. Saïd Aouita (5000 metres) and Paula Ivan (1500 metres) were the overall points winners of the tournament, both repeating their victories from the previous year's competition. Ivan became the first woman to win the series twice. This was also Aouita's third career win at the completion – a feat which never went matched in the event's history. 1997 IAAF Grand Prix
The 1997 IAAF Grand Prix was the thirteenth edition of the annual global series of one-day track and field competitions organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). The series consisted of three levels: IAAF Grand Prix, IAAF Grand Prix II, and finally IAAF Permit Meetings. There were seventeen Grand Prix meetings and eleven Grand Prix II meetings, making a combined total of 28 meetings for the series from 20 February to 7 September. An additional 15 IAAF Outdoor Permit Meetings were attached to the circuit. Performances on designated events on the circuit earned athletes points which qualified them for entry to the 1997 IAAF Grand Prix Final, held on 13 September in Fukuoka, Japan. IAAF Super Grand Prix
The IAAF Super Grand Prix was an annual series of one-day track and field competitions organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). Over the competition's history, a total of nine different meetings were part of the circuit – all of which were European meetings with the sole exception of the Qatar Athletic Super Grand Prix, introduced in 2004. Created in 2003, it became the second-highest tier in the IAAF World Outdoor Meetings series, behind the IAAF Golden League and above the IAAF Grand Prix and IAAF Grand Prix II level meetings. It began with seven meetings and expanded to eight meetings for the 2004 and 2005 series. Fontvieille, Monaco
Fontvieille (; ) is the southernmost ward in the Principality of Monaco. It was developed by Italian engineer Gianfranco Gilardini and designed by architect Manfredi Nicoletti, between the 1970s and the 1990s.
