Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht
Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht () is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands. It is located on the island of IJsselmonde, and borders with Zwijndrecht, Ridderkerk, and the Noord River (with Alblasserdam and Papendrecht on the other side). The jurisdiction of the municipality covers an area of of which is water. The municipality comprises no other population centres. Name Until 1855, the town was known as ''Hendrik-Ido-Schildmanskinderen-Ambacht en de Oostendam''. Then it merged with Sandelingen-Ambacht and its full name for a period of time was said to be ''Hendrik-Ido-Oostendam-Schildmanskinderen-Groot-en-Klein-Sandelingen-Ambacht''. Sandelingen-Ambacht
Sandelingen Ambacht is a polder about 12 km southeast of Rotterdam and a neighborhood of Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, South Holland. History Sandelingen Ambacht became a separate municipality in 1817, when it separated from Rijsoord. In 1840, the community of Sandelingen Ambacht had 32 houses and 390 residents. IJsselmonde () is a river island in the Netherlands, between the Nieuwe Maas, Noord and Oude Maas branches rivers of the Rhine-Meuse delta in the province of South Holland. Noord River
The Noord ("North") is a short tidal river in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The Noord starts at the city of Dordrecht where the Beneden Merwede river forks into the Oude Maas and the Noord. It joins the Lek at the city of Ridderkerk and Kinderdijk, and the combined stream is thereafter known as the Nieuwe Maas. The distance is about nine kilometres. The direction of its water flow depends on the tides. The Noord River separates IJsselmonde island from the Alblasserwaard mainland to the east. Papendrecht
Papendrecht () is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland, at the crossing of the River Beneden Merwede and the Noord River. The municipality had a population of in and covers an area of of which is water. Although Papendrecht is first mentioned in documents dating back to 1105, it remained a small settlement until the 1950s. In the 1960s its development accelerated and almost its entire area is now urbanized. It is, however, known for its 180-year-old linden tree by the river. Zwijndrecht, Netherlands
Zwijndrecht () is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands. It is in the province of South Holland, at the southern tip of the island of IJsselmonde, and at the confluence of the rivers Oude Maas, Beneden-Merwede, and Noord. Ridderkerk () is a town and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality had a population of in and covers an area of of which is covered by water.
