The Hearst family is a wealthy American family based in California. Their fortune was originally earned in the mining industry during the late 19th century under the entrepreneurial leadership of George Hearst. George's son, William Randolph Hearst, subsequently used his father's wealth to build a mass media empire comprising the ''New York Evening Journal'', ''Cosmopolitan'', ''Good Housekeeping'', ''Town & Country'' and ''Harper's Bazaar'' among others. To this day, the Hearst family continues to be involved in the media industry through their ownership and control of the mass media conglomerate, Hearst Communications. County Monaghan ( ; ) is a Counties of Ireland, county in Ireland. William Randolph Hearst Jr
William Randolph Hearst Jr. (January 27, 1908 – May 14, 1993) was an American businessman, newspaper publisher and member of the wealthy Hearst family. He was the second son of the publisher William Randolph Hearst. He became editor-in-chief of Hearst Newspapers after the death of his father in 1951. He won a Pulitzer Prize for his interview with Soviet premier, Nikita Khrushchev, and associated commentaries in 1955. Arthur Brisbane (December 12, 1864 – December 25, 1936) was one of the best-known American newspaper editors of the 20th century, as well as a real estate investor. Biography Brisbane was born in Buffalo, New York, to Albert Brisbane (1809–1890), an American utopian socialist who is remembered as the chief popularizer of the theories of Charles Fourier in the United States. Patty Hearst
Patricia Campbell Hearst (born February 20, 1954) is an American actress and member of the Hearst family. She is the granddaughter of American publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst. She first became known for the events following her 1974 kidnapping by the Symbionese Liberation Army. She was found and arrested 19 months after being abducted, by which time she was a fugitive wanted for serious crimes committed with members of the group. She was held in custody, and there was speculation before trial that her family's resources would enable her to avoid time in prison.
