This is a list of prime ministers of Chad since the formation of the post of prime minister of Chad in 1978 to the present day. A total of nineteen people have served as prime minister of Chad (not counting one acting prime minister). Additionally, two persons, Delwa Kassiré Koumakoye and Albert Pahimi Padacké, have served on two non-consecutive occasions. The current prime minister of Chad is Allamaye Halina, since 23 May 2024. Coat Of Arms Of Chad
The coat of arms of Chad was adopted in 1970. The center has a shield with jagged blue and yellow lines (''barry dancetty''), with a sun rising over it. The shield is supported by a goat and a lion. Below the shield is a medal and a scroll with the national motto in French, Unité, Travail, Progrès ("Unity, Work, Progress" in English). The shield supporters as well as the scroll feature a red arrow pointing upwards. Overview The wavy lines on the shield symbolize Lake Chad; the crest, a rising sun, a new beginning for the country. The supporter on the left is a goat, representing the northern half of the state; the southern half is represented by the lion supporting the shield on the right. The insigne of the National Order of Chad (a red Maltese cross centered by a blue disc with golden six-pointed star) depends from the shield. National Rally For Democracy In Chad
The National Rally of Chadian Democrats (RNDT–Le Réveil; ), formerly the National Rally for Democracy in Chad (), is a political party in Chad led by Albert Pahimi Padacké. It is considered a semi-opposition party that was allied with the ruling Patriotic Salvation Movement (MPS) during the rule of Idriss Déby, and the party participated in the government a few times during this period. Fidèle Abdelkérim Moungar (born 1948) is a Chadian politician who served as Prime Minister of Chad in 1993. He is currently Secretary-General of Chadian Action for Unity and Socialism (ACTUS), a left-wing opposition party. Life Moungar is an ethnic Sara, born in 1948 in Doba in the Logone Oriental Region, who has practiced as a surgeon in France. He started his political career when, along with other exiles, he founded ACTUS, a party hostile to both the FROLINAT and Wadel Abdelkader Kamougué's ''de facto'' government of southern Chad, the Comité Permanente du Sud, in May 1979 in Paris. Joseph Yodoyman
Joseph Yodoyman (1950 – November 22, 1993) was a Chadian politician and civil servant, who held the post of Prime Minister under President Idriss Déby from 1992 to 1993. Originally from southern Chad, he graduated at the Institut international de l'administration publique (IIAP) of Paris. In Chad he became Civil Service Director, until the collapse of all central authority in 1979. In the same year he was made member of the newly formed Comité Permanente du Sud, the ''de facto'' government of Southern Chad. He eventually left the post when he entered in November in the Transitional Government of National Unity (GUNT) as deputy secretary-general. In July 1981 he was promoted, becoming the GUNT's secretary of state for Interior. Idriss Déby Itno ( '; 18 June 1952 – 20 April 2021) was a Chadian politician and military officer who was the sixth List of heads of state of Chad, president of Chad from 1991 until his death in 2021 during the 2021 Northern Chad offensive, Northern Chad offensive. Jean Alingué Bawoyeu
Jean Alingué Bawoyeu (born August 18, 1937), known in French as the ''vieux sage'', which translates as "wise elder", is a Chadian politician who was Prime Minister of Chad from 1991 to 1992. During the 1970s, he served successively as Ambassador to the United States and France. Later, he was President of the National Assembly in 1990. He served in the government as Minister of Justice from 2008 to 2010 and as Minister of Posts and New Information Technologies from 2010 to 2013. A Christian, his base of support is in Tandjilé, in southern Chad, from which he originates. Early career Alingué was born at Fort Lamy in 1937. Goukouni Oueddei ( '; born 1944) is a Chadian politician who served as President of Chad from 1979 to 1982. A northerner, Goukouni commanded FROLINAT rebels with Libyan support during the first Chadian Civil War against Chad's southern-dominated government. Upon the rebel victory and the resignation of President Felix Malloum in 1979, he became the new president of Chad's new transitional coalition government by the terms of the Lagos Accord, with rival fellow rebel commander Hissène Habré as defense minister. Goukouni pursued a pro-Libya policy; continued differences with Habré, who opposed Libya, led to him being overthrown by Habré's forces in 1982. He then became the foremost opponent to Habré's new government, and fought against him during the Libyan-Chadian conflict as a Libyan-backed rebel leader. Félix Malloum Ngakoutou Bey-Ndi ( '; 10 September 1932 – 12 June 2009), better known as Félix Malloum, was a Chadian military officer and politician who served as the second President of Chad from 1975 to 1978. A native of southern Chad, Malloum became a high-ranking officer in the Chadian military under the country's first president, François Tombalbaye. In the context of the first Chadian Civil War, he was arrested and imprisoned by Tombalbaye in 1972 after being suspected of plotting a coup. Following Tombalbaye's overthrow and assassination during the 1975 Chadian coup d'état, he became the country's new president, inheriting the civil war against northern rebels. In 1978, he integrated the forces of rebel leader Hissène Habré, who was appointed prime minister, into his military to fight against rival rebel leader Goukouni Oueddei.
