Haywood, Manitoba
Haywood is an unincorporated community recognized as a local urban district in the province of Manitoba, Canada. Haywood is situated in the Rural Municipality of Grey, east of St. Claude, Manitoba, St. Claude and west of Elm Creek. The community includes a church, a hall, a cemetery, and many other public areas and services that most communities provide. Haywood, however, does not have a school, and therefore, students ride the bus to St. Claude, Manitoba, St. Claude, a neighbouring community to the west. Haywood was founded in 1907. The centennial anniversary was acknowledged in 2007. The event was celebrated by featuring a float parade, sponsored by a number Haywood and St. Claude businesses and families. Haywoode (Sidney Haywoode, London) is an English singer and dancer, best known for the 1986 UK top 20 hit single "Roses". She later also recorded under the name Sid Haywoode. Career Haywoode trained from an early age at London's Corona Stage Academy. Her career started with modelling, dancing and acting roles in British television shows like ''The Gentle Touch'' and was a regular as a Hill's Angel on ''The Benny Hill Show''. Haywood was an indie rock quartet from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Brooklyn, New York that was active from 1992 to 2000. They have been compared to Superchunk and Modest Mouse. While the band achieved only modest success in their eight years together, their third album ''We Are Amateurs, You and I'' was well reviewed, receiving an 8.2 rating on Pitchfork and praises from John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats. The release is regarded as the album which could have kick-started Haywood's rise to fame, had they not coincided the release with the announcement that the band had split up. Haywood County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee, in the region known as West Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 17,864.
