Harm Reduction
Harm reduction, or harm minimization, refers to a range of intentional practices and public health policies designed to lessen the negative social and/or physical consequences associated with various human behaviors, both legal and illegal. Harm reduction is used to decrease negative consequences of recreational drug use and sexual activity without requiring abstinence, recognizing that those unable or unwilling to stop can still make positive change to protect themselves and others. Harm reduction is most commonly applied to approaches that reduce adverse consequences from drug use, and harm reduction programs now operate across a range of services and in different regions of the world. Seaton House
Seaton House is the largest and one of the oldest homeless shelters in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located at 339 George Street in the Garden District neighbourhood. The facility is owned by the City of Toronto and operated by the city government's Shelter, Support and Housing Administration. It provides temporary lodging, food, clothing, medical care, for single men and also attempts to provide tools for enabling them to establish their independence. The shelter houses up to 300 men though, in the past, it has exceeded capacity and housed as many as 900 men. It was expected to close in 2020, but that has been delayed. Supply Reduction
Supply reduction is one approach to social problems such as drug addiction. Other approaches are demand reduction and harm reduction. In the case of illegal drugs, supply reduction efforts generally involves attempts to disrupt the manufacturing and distribution supply chains for these drugs, by both civilian law enforcement and sometimes military forces. This approach, sometimes characterized as the " War on Drugs", has been the dominant approach to drugs policy since the 1960s.
