Hardenberg (; or '' 'n Arnbarg'') is a List of cities in the Netherlands by province, city and Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality in the Provinces of the Netherlands, province of Overijssel, Eastern Netherlands. The municipality of Hardenberg has a population of about 60,000, with about 19,000 living in the city. It received City rights in the Low Countries, city rights in 1362 from John of Arkel (bishop), Jan van Arkel, Archdiocese of Utrecht (695–1580), Bishop of Utrecht. The famous Pieterpad passes through Hardenberg, a municipality which is located on the Germany–Netherlands border, German border. A sizable portion of the population speaks Dutch Low Saxon as a native language. HHC Hardenberg
Hardenberg Heemse Combinatie, commonly known as HHC Hardenberg, is a football club based in Hardenberg, Netherlands. The team compete in the Tweede Divisie, the third level of the Dutch football league system. History HHC Hardenberg was founded in 1954, as the result of a merger between ''Hardenberg Voetbal Club'' of Hardenberg en ''SV Heemse'' of neighbouring Heemse. The letters HHC stand for ''Hardenberg Heemse Combinatie'' (Hardenberg Heemse Combination). The club won its first title, in the ''Vierde Klasse'' (Fourth Class), in the 1964–65 season, securing promotion to the ''Derde Klasse'' (Third Class). The club played in that division for 11 seasons, and won the title in 1975–76, clinching promotion to the ''Tweede Klasse'' (Second Class). Heemse
Heemse (Dutch Low Saxon: ''Hiemse'') is a neighbourhood of Hardenberg and former village in the Netherlands, Dutch province of Overijssel.''ANWB Topografische Atlas Nederland'', Topografische Dienst and ANWB, 2005. In 1966, it was annexed by Hardenberg. Overview It was first mentioned in 1240 as Heymiss. The etymology is unknown. Heemse became the seat of the municipality of Ambt Hardenberg. In 1840, it was home to 481 people. In 1880, plans were being drafted for the building of tramlines from Zwolle to Coevorden and from Avereest to Gramsbergen. The mayor of Hardenberg, Willem van Ittersum, offered subsidies if that last line went to Hardenberg instead of Gramsbergen. In 1886, the first sod was turned by the Dedemsvaartsche Stoomtramweg-Maatschappij (a Dutch tram, steam tramway company). Provincial road N34 is a Dutch State highway, provincial road that links the N36 motorway (Netherlands), N36 near Ommen, Overijssel to Rijksweg 28 near De Punt, Drenthe. The entire road is an Limited-access road#Europe, expressway, of which the part between Coevorden and Emmen-West (the junction with the N391) consists of two lanes in each direction. Overijssel
Overijssel (; ; ; ) is a Provinces of the Netherlands, province of the Netherlands located in the eastern part of the country. Pieterpad
The Pieterpad is a long distance walking route in the Netherlands. The trail runs from Pieterburen, in the northern part of Groningen, south through the eastern part of the Netherlands to end just south of Maastricht, on the top of Mount Saint Peter (''St Pietersberg''), at a height of . The Pieterpad is one of the official Long Distance Paths in the Netherlands (Lange Afstand Wandelpad Nummer 9) and by far the most popular of its long distance walking routes. It is possible to walk the route in either direction, and throughout the year. It is well signposted, and is well served by public transport and accommodation throughout its length. The official guide book is in two volumes, Pieterburen-Vorden and Vorden-Maastricht.
