Hammarby IF
Hammarby Idrottsförening ("Hammarby Sports Club"), commonly known as Hammarby IF or simply Hammarby ( or, especially locally, ), is a Swedish sports club located in Stockholm, with a number of member organizations active in a variety of different sports. It was founded in 1889 as ''Hammarby Roddförening'' ("Hammarby Rowing Association"), but by 1897 the club had diversified and was participating in different sports, leading to the renaming to Hammarby IF. In 1999, the club was reorganized into a legal format referred to in Swedish as an ''alliansförening'' ("alliance association"), with each of the club's departments becoming a separate legal entity cooperating under the "Hammarby IF" umbrella. As of 2020, the club had a record high number of 22,746 active members in all of its sections. Hammarby IF Boxning
Hammarby IF Boxningsförening, commonly known as Hammarby Boxning, is a Swedish boxing club based in Stockholm. It is one of Sweden's oldest boxing clubs, founded in 1919, and a section of Hammarby IF. Their gym is located in Södermalm, an area the club considers its heartland. Sweden is one of the traditional powers of women's football. History The earliest recorded occurrence of women's football in Sweden was in 1919. National competition Damallsvenskan is the national competition for women footballers in Sweden, a division consisting of 12 teams, who assigns the national champion of Sweden. Damallsvenskan is the first ever professional league for women's football in the world. From Damallsvenskan the lower division is Elitettan the teams ranked at the last two places in the final standings. The second division is represented by the Ellitettan division, created in 2013 and consisting of 14 teams. Hammarby IF Fotbollförening (), commonly known as Hammarby IF (), Hammarby Fotboll () or simply Hammarby, is a women's football club from Stockholm founded in 1970. Hammarby play their home games at Hammarby IP (also called Kanalplan) in the Södermalm district of Stockholm, and occasionally at Zinkensdamms IP and 3Arena. Competing in Sweden's first tier, Damallsvenskan, Hammarby are placed fourth in the all-time Damallsvenskan table, and has won the Swedish championship twice: in 1985 and 2023. Lennart Nyman
Lennart Nyman (25 June 1917 – 25 August 1998) was a Swedish football coach and sports administrator, best known for being the first ever manager of the Sweden national team between 1962 and 1965. He was also the chairman of multi-sport club Hammarby IF for 25 years, the longest-serving in its history. Athletic career Born in Stockholm, growing up at Södermalm, Nyman started to compete in different sports with local club Hammarby IF in his youth in the 1930s. He played bandy, football and ice hockey at junior and reserve level. Hammarby IF established a handball section in 1939. Hammarby IF Handboll is the Team handball, handball section of Sweden, Swedish sports club Hammarby IF from Stockholm. Hammarby IF currently play in Handbollsligan, Sweden's first tier. The club won three consecutive List of Swedish men's handball champions, Swedish championships from 2006 to 2008. History The handboll section of Hammarby IF was founded on 31 October 1939. The Swedish ice hockey champions () is a title awarded annually to the winning playoff team of the top-tier ice hockey league in Sweden, which currently is the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) since 1975. It was first awarded to IK Göta Ishockey, IK Göta in 1922, the championship's inaugural year. The championship's present SHL format did not take into effect until the league was originally formed for the 1975–76 season under the name of Elitserien. Hammarby IF Hockey (1921-2008)
Hammarby IF Ishockeyförening (''"Hammarby IF Ice Hockey Club"'', or simply Hammarby Hockey) is an ice hockey club founded as "Bajen Fans IF" in 2008 by supporters of the previous incarnation of Hammarby Hockey which went bankrupt that same year. The club plays in Hockeytvåan, the fourth tier of Swedish men's ice hockey, since the 2021–22 season. In its first five seasons, the club was promoted three times. Prior to the 2013–14 season, the club had failed only once to achieve promotion to a higher league in the Swedish ice hockey system when it was available, as league restructuring prior to the 2010–11 season prevented their immediate rise to Division 2 for that season.
