''Hairy Maclary and Friends'' is a series of children's picture books created by New Zealand author and illustrator Dame Lynley Dodd. The popular series has sold over five million copies worldwide. The character Hairy Maclary made his first appearance in 1983 in the book titled ''Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy''. He is the protagonist in twelve books in the series, and there are a further nine books about his friends. Hairy Maclary's adventures are usually in the company of his other dog friends who include an English Mastiff named Hercules Morse, a Dalmatian (dog), Dalmatian named Bottomley Potts, an Old English Sheepdog named Muffin McLay, a Greyhound named Bitzer Maloney and a Dachshund named Schnitzel Von Krumm. ''Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy'' first published in 1983, is the first and most well-known of a series of books by New Zealand author Dame Lynley Dodd featuring Hairy Maclary. His adventures are usually in the company of his other dog friends. His arch-enemy is the tomcat Scarface Claw. Written for pre-school children, it has become a classic bedtime storybook in New Zealand and Australia, and Lynley Dodd's books, including this one, dominate the children's section of the Premier New Zealand Bestsellers list. Scarface Claw
Scarface Claw the "toughest Tom in town",Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy (Mallinson Rendel, Wellington, 1983) is a fictional tom cat who features in the Hairy Maclary children's stories written by New Zealand author Lynley Dodd. A large, black cat with big yellow eyes and chunks missing from his ears, Scarface has a reputation as the "toughest Tom in town". Appearances Scarface Claw is introduced in the first Hairy Maclary story, the 1983 Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy, where he appears from the shadows to terrify Hairy Maclary and his canine friends as they prowl through the town. TVNZ 2 () is the second New Zealand television channel owned and operated by the state-owned broadcaster Television New Zealand (TVNZ). It targets a younger audience than its sister channel, TVNZ 1. Goodnight Kiwi (TV Series)
''Goodnight Kiwi'' is a New Zealand TV show where well-known New Zealanders are presented reading children's books. It is intended to be watched before bed, and is based on the TV sign-off animation, ''Goodnight Kiwi''. Each episode is around three minutes long and available on TVNZ+. It includes animations, original illustrations and live performances. The episodes begin with a variation of the original ''Goodnight Kiwi'' animation, where the kiwi and cat jump into the satellite dish. It was announced in October 2019 and released on 11 November of the same year. This was after it was hinted in July that ''Goodnight Kiwi'' may make a comeback to television. To promote the series, Hilary Barry and Jeremy Wells got into bed together on an episode of ''Seven Sharp'' and read a bedtime story to each other. John Key
Sir John Phillip Key (born 9 August 1961) is a New Zealand retired politician who served as the 38th prime minister of New Zealand from 2008 to 2016 and as leader of the National Party from 2006 to 2016. Old MacDonald
"Old MacDonald Had a Farm" (sometimes shortened to Old MacDonald) is a traditional children's song and nursery rhyme about a farmer and the various animals he keeps. Each verse of the song changes the name of the animal and its respective noise. For example, if the verse uses a cow as the animal, then "moo" would be used as the animal's sound. In many versions, the song is cumulative, with the animal sounds from all the earlier verses added to each subsequent verse. The song is attributed to Thomas d'Urfey for an opera in 1706, before existing as a folk song in Britain, Ireland and North America for hundreds of years in various forms then finally being standardised in the twentieth century. Helen Beatrix Heelis (; 28 July 186622 December 1943), usually known as Beatrix Potter ( ), was an English writer, illustrator, natural scientist, and conservationist.
