Haepyeong Gil Clan
The Haepyeong Gil clan () is a Korean clan. Their bon-gwan is in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province. According to research conducted in 2015, there were 35,823 members of the Haepyeong Gil clan. Their founder was , one of the 'Eight Scholars' () that emigrated to Goryeo from Song China. Korean clans are groups of Koreans, Korean people that share the same Patrilineality, paternal ancestor. They are indicated by the combination of a ''bongwan'' () and a family name. Korean clans distinguish clans that happen to share the same family name. The ''bongwan'' identifies descent groups by Geography, geographic place of origin. For example, the Gyeongju Kim and the Gimhae Kim are considered different clans, even though they happen to share the same family name ''Kim (Korean name), Kim''. Korean clans of foreign origin () refers to Korean clans (also "''bon-gwan''") that claim descent from a progenitor of foreign origin, based on genealogical records. Authenticity The ancestral origins of many Korean clans of foreign origin cannot be historically verified outside of a clan's own genealogical records: the ones from the Joseon period, as well as several from the Goryeo period, can be considered historical and factual, but the ones dating before the Goryeo period are impossible to confirm. Goryeo
Goryeo (; ) was a Korean state founded in 918, during a time of national division called the Later Three Kingdoms period, that unified and ruled the Korea, Korean Peninsula until the establishment of Joseon in 1392. Goryeo achieved what has been called a "true national unification" by Korean historians as it not only unified the Later Three Kingdoms but also incorporated much of the ruling class of the northern kingdom of Balhae, who had origins in Goguryeo of the earlier Three Kingdoms of Korea. North Gyeongsang Province
North Gyeongsang Province (, ) is a province in eastern South Korea, and with an area of , it is the largest province in the Korean peninsula. The province was formed in 1896 from the northern half of the former Gyeongsang province, and remained a province of Korea (as Keishōhoku-dō during Japanese rule) until the country's division in 1945, then became part of South Korea. Gill (musician)
Gil Seong-joon (; born December 24, 1977), better known by his stage name Gill (), is a South Korean singer and television personality. He was the main singer of former South Korean hip-hop duo, Leessang. In 2009, Gil joined Infinite Challenge as a guest and, later on, as a regular co-host. Gil also co-hosted Come To Play. In 2012, Gil joined Voice of Korea as one of the coaches and continued for Season 2.
