The Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television, commonly referred to simply as the Gold Logie, is an award presented annually at the Australian Logie Awards. The Gold Logie was first awarded at the Logie Awards of 1960, 2nd Annual TV Week Logie Awards, held in 1960 when the award was originally called Most Popular Personality on Australian Television. It was briefly renamed ''Best Personality on Australian Television'' in 2016-2017. For the 2018 ceremony, the award category name was reverted to Most Popular Personality on Australian Television. The winner and nominees of the Gold Logie are chosen by the public through an online voting survey on the ''TV Week'' website. Robert Limb Officer of the Order of Australia, AO, Officer of the Order of the British Empire, OBE (10 November 1924 – 11 September 1999) was an Australian-born entertainment pioneer, comedian, band leader and musician and legend of radio, television and theatre of the 1960s and 1970s, he also founded the film and TV production company NLT Productions, with Jack Neary and Les Tinker. Michael Charlton (born 1 May 1927) is an Australian-born Gold Logie winning former journalist and broadcaster, who worked for the BBC in the United Kingdom for many years. Biography Charlton was born in Sydney to broadcaster Conrad and Hazel Charlton, both born in New Zealand, and is the elder brother of Australian sports broadcaster and Order of Australia recipient Tony Charlton. ''It Could Be You'' is an Australian daytime television series which aired from 1961 to 1966, with later revivals. The best known version was the first version, which was hosted by Tommy Hanlon Jr., assisted by Jack Little. Hanlon was among several Americans who had shows on 1960s Australian television, the others included Delo and Daly, Larry K. Nixon, and Don Lane. Broadcast originally on Melbourne station GTV-9, it eventually become a Nine Network show. While considered a game show, it was not a strict quiz format. The unusual format (often involving reunions with long-lost relatives) was popular with female viewers.
