Carstensz Glacier
The Carstensz Glacier is near the peak of Puncak Jaya (sometimes called ''Mount Carstensz'' or the ''Carstensz Pyramid'') which is a mountain in the Sudirman Range of the island of New Guinea, territorially the eastern highlands of Central Papua, Indonesia. The glacier is situated at an elevation of approximately and is east of the summit tower of Puncak Jaya. In 2002 the Carstensz Glacier was in length and wide. In November 2023 it was only length and wide. The glacier is named after the 17th century Dutch explorer Jan Carstenszoon, commonly known as Jan Carstensz. Background Research presented in 2004 of IKONOS satellite imagery of the New Guinean glaciers indicated that in the two years from 2000 to 2002, the Carstensz Glacier had lost a further 6.8% of its surface area. Bayan-Ölgii Province
Bayan-Ölgii ( ) is the westernmost of the 21 Aimags of Mongolia, aimags (provinces) of Mongolia. The country's only Islam in Mongolia, Muslim and Kazakh people, Kazakh-majority aimag, it was established in August 1940. Its capital is Ölgii (city), Ölgii. Geography The aimag is located in the extreme west of the country, and shares borders with both Russia and China. The border between the two neighbouring countries is very short here, though, and ends after about 40 km at the eastern end of Kazakhstan. Within Mongolia, the neighbouring aimags are Uvs Province, Uvs in the north east and Khovd Province, Khovd in the south east. Bayan-Ölgii is the highest Mongolian aimag. Engilchek Glacier
Engilchek Glacier (, - ''Enilchek'', also Иныльчек - ''Inylchek'') is a glacier in the Central Tian Shan Mountains of Issyk-Kul Region, northeastern Kyrgyzstan. Its snout is 50 km east of the village of Engilchek. The South Engilchek Glacier ranks as the sixth longest non-polar glacier in the world and is the largest and fastest moving glacier in Kyrgyzstan. The main glacier has two arms, the North and South Engilchek Glaciers. The latter is longer and provides an overall length of . with an area of and an ice thickness of roughly 150–200 m in the bottom parts. Gorodetsky Glacier
The Gorodetsky Glacier is a rock glacier on the northern slope of the Zailiysky Alatau range. The glacier consists of left and right branches. The glacier was visited by dendrologist and archaeologist Vladimir Dmitrievich Gorodetsky (1878–1943) for the first time in 1916. The glacier was named in honor of Gorodetsky 20 years later. In Soviet times, prominent glacier scientists worked on the glacier, including academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR Nikolai Nikitich Palgov (1889–1970). Mount Tsurugi (Toyama)
is a mountain located in the eastern area of Toyama Prefecture, Japan. It is one of the tallest peaks in the Hida Mountains at . It is one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains, and is called "the most dangerous mountain" climbable. Tsurugi has a number of routes which approach world class long routes. It is recognised in Japan as "the" premiere mountaineering peak in winter. Although dangerous, its death toll is a small fraction of those who have died on Japan's much smaller, but more lethal Tanigawa-dake. The earliest first ascent of Mt. Tsurugidake was by in 1907. However, upon reaching the summit, Ikuta discovered a rusted iron sword and staff. Upon investigation, the sword was thought to have belonged to a monk about 1,000 years ago. Mount Tate
, also known as Tateyama, is a mountain located in the southeastern area of Toyama Prefecture, Japan. It is one of the tallest mountains in the Hida Mountains at and one of Japan's along with Mount Fuji and Mount Haku. Tateyama consists of three peaks: Ōnanjiyama (大汝山, 3,015 m), Oyama (雄山, 3,003 m), and Fuji-no-Oritate, (富士ノ折立, 2,999m) which form a ridge line. Tateyama is the tallest mountain in the Tateyama Mountain Range (立山連峰, Tateyama-renpō). The Oyama Shrine (Tateyama), Oyama Shrine is located on Oyama Peak.
