Gevolt Albums
Gevolt is an Israeli metal band, founded in 2001. The band is known as the pioneers of Yiddish metal. They were the first band to combine traditional Yiddish music with metal. History The band was formed in Israel in 2001 by Anatholy Bonder (vocals), Yevgeny Kushnir (guitars), Oleg Szumski (drums) and Max Mann (bass guitars). In 2005 Marina Klionski (violins) joined. In 2006, Gevolt self-released their debut full-length album ''Sidur'' in the Russian language. After the release Oleg Szumski left the band and was replaced by Vadim Weinstein, and Dmitry Lifshitz (synths) joined the band. Gevolt started recording of their second album in 2005, and released the 2-track promo single "Yiddish Metal" in 2007. In this single the band changed their concept and started singing in Yiddish, covering classic Yiddish songs. Korpiklaani
Korpiklaani (Finnish language, Finnish for ) is a Finnish folk metal band from Lahti that was formerly known as Shamaani Duo and Shaman. History Shamaani Duo While other folk metal bands began with metal before adding folk music, Korpiklaani started with folk music before turning metal. The roots of Korpiklaani can be traced back to a Sámi people, Sámi folk music group under the name of "Shamaani Duo", an "in house restaurant band" created by Jonne Järvelä in 1993. An album of folk music (''Hunka Lunka'') was released under this name before Järvelä relocated and "Shamaani Duo" morphed into "Shaman". Midi Music Festival
The Midi Music Festival, sometimes also called Midi Modern Music Festival or simply Midi Festival ( zh, c=迷笛音乐节, p=Mídí Yīnyuè Jié) is among China's largest rock music festivals and is hosted by the Beijing Midi School of Music. Since its inauguration in 1997 it has been held each year in Beijing during the International Workers' Day, May Day holiday (May 1–3), with some breaks in 2003, 2004 and 2008 (all times held in October). Currently, it change to (April 28 to May 1). The 2008 festival was delayed to October for reasons related to the 2008 Summer Olympics, and in 2020 and 2021 they were cancelled due to COVID. Týr (band)
Týr () is a Faroese folk metal band. They have been characterised as one of "the islands' two most successful metal bands". Their subject matter revolves almost entirely around Viking lore, mythology, and history, taking their name from Týr, the god of war in Norse religion. History Before Týr, Heri Joensen and Gunnar H. Thomsen formed their first band, Cruiser, at the age of 17. Streymoy also played with them for a short while. They later changed their name to Wolfgang. Although neither band released any albums, Wolfgang, who are still active, recorded an undisclosed number of songs that, according to Joensen, are "pretty much ready to release".
