The General Aung San Shield (formerly the ''MFF Cup'') is the top football knockout tournament in Myanmar. On 26 March 2014, the MFF league committee decided the knock-out cup (General Aung San Shield) winner would compete in the Mekong Club Championship as well as earning the ticket for the AFC Cup. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the governing body of association football, beach soccer, and futsal in most countries and territories in Asia. The AFC was formed in 1954. It has 47 members. The Asian Ladies Football Confederation (ALFC) was the section of AFC that managed women's association football in Asia. ASEAN Club Championship
The ASEAN Club Championship or ACC, also known as the Shopee Cup for sponsorship reasons, is an international club football competition organised by the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) between domestic champion clubs. The competition is backed by AFC and FIFA. Qualification to the competition is for champions clubs from countries affiliated with the AFF. History The ASEAN Club Championship was first held as biannual tournament in 2003 and 2005. The first edition was sponsored by LG Electronics, which was also known as LG Cup Asean Club Football Championship. However, the tournament failed to gain traction due to lack of sponsors and conflict with the main calendar of the Asian Football Confederation. Plans to revive the tournament started as early as 2012. The tournament's revival was first proposed in 2019 but was hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic. Myawaddy TV (, abbreviated as MWD) is a military-owned television network in Myanmar, based in Yangon and Naypyidaw. Myawaddy TV has been widely criticized for broadcasting pro- SAC (State Administration Council) news. History Myawaddy TV was launched on 27 March 1995 to commemorate Myanmar's Armed Forces Day, marking the 50th anniversary of its founding. Its programming is also broadcast via the AsiaSat 2 satellite. MWD was the second television station in Myanmar, following MRTV. The Toyota Mekong Club Championship was an ASEAN Football Federation, ASEAN club competition for men's association football clubs. Five teams entered as respective domestic league winners from ''Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam''. History In 2014, Toyota, Toyota Motor wanted to develop in aspiring football players and football fans in the countries alongside the Mekong River: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam, so Toyota debuted the competition called Mekong Club Championship. It is the second-tier competition of Asian club football, ranked below the AFC Champions League Elite and above the AFC Challenge League.
