Galerucinae
The Galerucinae are a large subfamily of the leaf beetles (Chrysomelidae), containing about 15,000 species in more than 1000 genera, of which about 500 genera and about 8000 species make up the flea beetle tribe Alticini. The division into tribes is more a matter of tradition than based on modern research. Some genera, for example '' Yingaresca'', are better considered ''incertae sedis'' due to a general lack of knowledge. And while a good case can be made for some tribes – namely the Alticini and Galerucini – being all but monophyletic even in their traditional delimitation, others, such as Luperini, appear to be just paraphyletic assemblages of primitive and more basal genera. Some classifications of Galerucinae include just two tribes, Alticini and Galerucini, and treat all of the tribes of Galerucinae ''sensu stricto'' (Decarthrocerini, Galerucini, Hylaspini, Luperini, Metacyclini and Oidini) as subtribes of Galerucini. Selected genera * '' Acalymma'' * ' ...

Flea Beetle
The flea beetle is any small, jumping beetle of the leaf beetle family (Chrysomelidae) that is part of the tribe (biology), tribe Alticini, which is part of the subfamily Galerucinae. Historically the flea beetles were classified as their own subfamily. Traditionally, the Alticini were separated from other Galerucinae by the presence of jumping hind legs, characterised by enlarged arthropod leg, femora containing a spring structure allowing the flea beetles to jump. Recent phylogenetic studies suggest that jumping hind legs evolved multiple times in the Galerucinae, rather than once, and that several genera should be transferred between Alticini and Galerucinae ''sensu stricto'' (or Galerucini in some classifications). Description and ecology The adults are very small to moderately sized Chrysomelidae (i.e. among beetles in general they are on the smallish side). They are similar to other leaf beetles, but characteristically have the hindleg femora greatly enlarged. These enla ...

Acalymma
''Acalymma'' is a genus of leaf beetles found mainly in the New World. Approximately 72 species have been described in the Western Hemisphere. Pest Species and Impacts In the United States, two species are major pests of cucurbits, the striped cucumber beetle (''Acalymma vittatum''), which is mainly found east of the Mississippi River, and ''Acalymma trivittatum'' which is mostly found west of the Mississippi. Adults feed on young leaves, and larvae can damage roots. ''A. vittatum'' vectors bacterial wilt '' Erwinia tracheiphila'' Holland (Enterobacteriales: Enterobacteriaceae) to the plants as it pierces plant stems to suck juices. Species included The genus includes the following species: *'' Acalymma albidovittatum'' (Baly, 1889) – cucumber beetle *'' Acalymma bechynei'' Cabrera, 1999 *''Acalymma bertoluccii'' Gilbert & Clark, 2007 *'' Acalymma bivittulum'' (Kirsch, 1883) (Synonym: ''A. xanthographa'' Bechyné, 1955) *'' Acalymma blandulum'' (LeConte, 1868) *'' Acalymma blo ...

Serraticollini
''Aulacothorax'' is a genus of leaf beetles in the family Chrysomelidae. There are currently 51 described species in ''Aulacothorax'' found worldwide, 40 of which are found in the Indomalayan realm. Historically considered a problematic member of the tribe Alticini (the flea beetles), the genus is now classified in its own tribe, Serraticollini. History of research The genus was originally created in 1858 for a single species described from Tahiti, ''Aulacothorax exilis'', which was placed in Scydmaenidae (now considered a subfamily of Staphylinidae). Recently, the holotype of this species was rediscovered in the collections of the Swedish Museum of Natural History, and it was found to belong to the genus ''Orthaltica''. ''Aulacothorax'' is the earliest available name for the genus, so the genus ''Orthaltica'' was formally placed in synonymy with it in 2017. Historically, the genus ''Aulacothorax'' (or ''Orthaltica'') was classified as a member of the subfamily Alticinae, later ...

Aulacophora
''Aulacophora'' is a genus of beetles in the family Chrysomelidae, commonly known as pumpkin beetles; some species are pests of agricultural crops. The genus was named in 1836 by the French entomologist Louis Alexandre Auguste Chevrolat, in Dejean's ''Catalogue des Coléoptères''. The name, from Ancient Greek, signifies "furrow-bearer"' from ''aulax'', "furrow". Description Beetles in this genus are oval insects up to about long and can be recognised by their presence on the host plant. Distribution Pumpkin beetles are found in Africa, Asia and Australasia. Some of the more important pest species are '' A. foveicollis'' from Africa, Europe and Asia, '' A. similis'' from southern and southeastern Asia, '' A. coffeae'' from Malaysia, '' A. flavomarginata'' from Malaysia and Indonesia, '' A. femoralis'' from Myanmar and Vietnam, '' A. lewisii'' from Malaysia and Vietnam, and '' A. frontalis'' from Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos. Chrysomelidae
The beetle family Chrysomelidae, commonly known as leaf beetles, includes over 37,000 (and probably at least 50,000) species in more than 2,500 genera, making it one of the largest and most commonly encountered of all beetle families. Numerous subfamilies are recognized, but the precise taxonomy and systematics are likely to change with ongoing research. Leaf beetles are partially recognizable by their tarsal formula, which appears to be 4-4-4, but is actually 5-5-5 as the fourth tarsal segment is very small and hidden by the third. As with many taxa, no single character defines Chrysomelidae; instead, the family is delineated by a set of characters. Some lineages are only distinguished with difficulty from longhorn beetles (family Cerambycidae), namely by the antennae not arising from frontal tubercles. Members of former chrysomelid subfamilies ( Orsodacnidae and Megalopodidae) are also difficult to differentiate from true chrysomelids. Adult and larval leaf beetles feed o ...
