G20
The G20 or Group of 20 is an intergovernmental forum comprising 19 sovereign countries, the European Union (EU), and the African Union (AU). It works to address major issues related to the global economy, such as international financial stability, climate change mitigation and sustainable development, through annual meetings of Heads of State and Heads of Government. The sovereign states of the G20 (without its international members, like the EU or AU) account for around 85% of gross world product (GWP), 75% of international trade, 56% of the global population, and 60% of the world's land area. Including the EU and AU, the G20 comprises 78.9% of global population and 83.9% of global CO2 emissions from fossil energy. The G20 was founded in 1999 in response to several world economic crises. 2024 G20 Rio De Janeiro Summit
The 2024 G20 Rio de Janeiro summit (Português, Portuguese: ''Cúpula do G20 Rio de Janeiro 2024'') was the List of G20 summits, nineteenth meeting of G20, Group of Twenty (G20), a Heads of State and Government meeting held at the Museum of Modern Art, Rio de Janeiro, Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro from 18–19 November 2024. The 2008 G20 Washington Summit on Financial Markets and the World Economy was the first meeting, held in Washington, D.C., United States. It achieved general agreement amongst the G20 on how to cooperate in key areas so as to strengthen economic growth, deal with the 2008 financial crisis, and lay the foundation for reform to avoid similar crises in the future.
