Bishkek
Bishkek, formerly known as Pishpek (until 1926), and then Frunze (1926–1991), is the Capital city, capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is also the administrative centre of the Chüy Region. Bishkek is situated near the Kazakhstan–Kyrgyzstan border, border with Kazakhstan and has a population of 1,074,075, as of 2021. The Khanate of Kokand established the fortress of Pishpek in 1825 to control local caravan routes and to collect tribute from Kyrgyz people, Kyrgyz tribes. On 4 September 1860, with the approval of the Kyrgyz, Russian forces led by Colonel Apollon Zimmermann destroyed the fortress. In the present day, the fortress ruins can be found just north of Jibek Jolu Street, near the new main mosque. A Russian settlement was established in 1868 on the site of the fortress under its original name, Pishpek. It lay within the General Governorship of Russian Turkestan and its Semirechye Oblast. Sentianivka
Sentianivka (; ), known as Frunze () from 1930 to 2016, is a rural settlement in Kadiivka urban hromada, Alchevsk Raion (district), Luhansk Oblast (region), Ukraine, at about 43 km WNW from the centre of Luhansk city, on the banks of the Luhan River. Population: History 19th and 20th century The origins of Sentianivka go back to the 1860s-1880s in the Russian Empire, when three villages named Sentianivka, Novoselivka, and Krasnohorivka were founded on the lands of a retired military officer with the surname ''Sentianin'', who had served in the Bakhmut hussar regiment. In 1901, there were riots in Sentianivka against mistreatment by a landlord. Rioters burned down a brick factory and granaries. Cossack authorities suppressed the rebellion. Frunze Military Academy
The M. V. Frunze Military Academy (), or in full the Military Order of Lenin and the October Revolution, Red Banner, Order of Suvorov Academy in the name of M. V. Frunze (), was a military academy of the Soviet and later the Russian Armed Forces. Established in 1918 to train officers for the newly formed Red Army, the academy was one of the most prestigious military educational institutions in the Soviet Union. At first titled the General Staff Academy of the Red Army, taking on a similar role to its pre-revolutionary predecessor, the Imperial Nicholas Military Academy, it was renamed the Military Academy in 1921 and then the M. V. Frunze Military Academy in 1925, honouring Mikhail Frunze, who had been a commandant of the academy. It became a higher staff college with the addition of courses for senior command officers in the 1930s, before these were transferred in 1936 to the newly formed Military Academy of the General Staff. Manas International Airport
Manas International Airport (; ) is the main international airport in Kyrgyzstan, located north-northwest of the capital, Bishkek. History The airport was constructed as a replacement for the former Frunzensky Airport that was located to the south of the city, and named after Kyrgyz epic hero, Manas, suggested by writer and intellectual Chinghiz Aitmatov. The first plane landed at Manas in October 1974, with Soviet Premier Alexei Kosygin on board. Aeroflot operated the first scheduled flight to Moscow–Domodedovo on 4 May 1975. When Kyrgyzstan gained independence from the Soviet Union in December 1991, the airport began a steady decline as its infrastructure was neglected for almost ten years and a sizable aircraft boneyard developed. Mikhail Frunze
Mikhail Vasilyevich Frunze (; ; 2 February 1885 – 31 October 1925) was a Soviet revolutionary, politician, army officer and military theory, military theorist. Born to a Bessarabian father and a Russian mother in Russian Turkestan, Frunze attended the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Saint Petersburg Polytechnical University and became an active member of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (RSDLP). Following the RSDLP ideological split, he sided with Vladimir Lenin's Bolsheviks, Bolshevik faction. He led the textile workers strike in Ivanovo during the Russian Revolution of 1905, 1905 Russian Revolution, for which he was later sentenced to death before being commuted to life-long Penal labour, hard labour in Siberia. He escaped ten years later and took active part in the 1917 February Revolution in Minsk and the October Revolution in Moscow. Frunze Dovlatyan
Frunze Vaghinaki Dovlatyan (; May 26, 1927 – August 30, 1997) was an Armenian film director, screenwriter and actor. Biography Frunze Dovlatyan was born in Gavar, Soviet Armenia, a brother to Vram Dovlatyan. He was a theater actor before becoming a director. He starred as an actor in Armenian provincial theatres from 1941 and then in Gabriel Sundukian Drama Theatre of Yerevan, where he was awarded Stalin Prize for his performance in the role of Hrayr in the play ''Ays astgherë mern en'' ("These Stars Are Ours"). In 1959, he graduated from the directing department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in Moscow, where he studied under Sergei Gerasimov. His most well-known film is '' Barev, yes em'' ("Hello, That's Me!", 1967), which received the State Prize of the Armenian SSR. Dovlatyan headed the Armenfilm state film studio in the 1980s. Kadamjay
Kadamjay (; , earlier also Кадамджай) is a city located in Kadamjay District of Batken Region of Kyrgyzstan. Its population was 14,049 in 2021. It is the administrative seat of Kadamjay District. Kadamjay is located between the towns of Aydarken (Khaidarkan) (to the west) and Kyzyl-Kyya (to the east), and north of the Uzbek exclave Shohimardon. The river Shohimardonsoy (Kyrgyz: ''Shaymerden'') passes through Kadamjay. From 1937 until 2006, the town was officially known as "Frunze".
