Flower Hill is a village in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The eastern half is considered part of the Greater Roslyn area, which is anchored by the Incorporated Village of Roslyn. Western and northern parts are more closely associated with Manhasset and Port Washington. The population was 4,794 at the time of the 2020 census. The Incorporated Village of Flower Hill is located entirely within the Town of North Hempstead, and has been recognized as a Tree City USA since 2013. Carlos Munson
Carlos Walter Munson was a Cuban-American businessman, philanthropist, and politician, and was the former president of the Munson Steamship Line. He was a key figure in the incorporation of Flower Hill, New York, as a village, as well as the establishment of St. Francis Hospital in Flower Hill. Career Prior to becoming an executive of the Munson Steamship Line, Carlos began working for his father as a freight checker. In 1908, Carlos Munson became the president of the Munson Steamship Line, taking over for his father, following his death. He held this position until 1913, when he handed it to his brother, Frank. After handing his brother the position of president, Carlos became the chairman of the Munson Steamship Company's board. Matinecock (tribe)
Metoac is an erroneous term used by some to group together the Munsee-speaking Lenape (west), Quiripi-speaking Unquachog (center) and Pequot-speaking Montaukett (east) American Indians on what is now Long Island in New York state. Roslyn ( ) is a village in the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. It is the Greater Roslyn area's anchor community. The population was 2,988 at the time of the 2020 census. History Roslyn was initially settled by colonists in the year 1643. It was originally called Hempstead Harbor, but its name was changed to Roslyn in 1844 due to postal confusion regarding all the other "Hempsteads" scattered about Long Island.
