Florø SK Players
is a town and the administrative centre of the municipality of Kinn which is in Vestland county, Norway. The town was founded by royal decree in 1860 as a ladested on the island of Florelandet, located between the Botnafjorden and Solheimsfjorden. Florø is Norway's (and thus the Scandinavian Peninsula's) westernmost town. It is the most western town on the mainland in the Nordic countries. The town has a population (2018) of 9,024 and a population density of . The town encompasses the entire island of Florelandet and the western half of the island of Brandsøya. The Norwegian national road Rv 5 is the main road connecting Florø to the rest of Norway. The nearby villages of Brandsøy and Grov lie several kilometers to the east of Florø. Former Municipalities Of Norway
This is a list of former List of municipalities of Norway, municipalities of Norway, i.e. municipalities that no longer exist. When the local council system was introduced in Norway in 1837-38, the country had 392 municipalities. By 1958, the number had grown to a total of 744 rural municipalities, 64 city municipalities as well as a small number of small seaports with ''ladested'' status. A Schei Committee, committee led by Nikolai Schei, formed in 1946 to examine the situation, proposed hundreds of mergers to reduce the number of municipalities and improve the quality of local administration. Florø Church
Florø Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the municipality of Kinn, Vestland, Norway. It is located in the town of Florø. It is the main church for the Kinn parish, which is part of the Sunnfjord prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1882 using plans drawn up by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The church seats about 500 people. History For the first 22 years after Florø was designated as a ladested (town) in 1860, it had no church. It was probably the only town in the country without a church of its own. The townspeople had to undertake the long long sea voyage to the old Kinn Church on the island of Kinn to be able to attend church services. The church issue was a recurrent topic in the Florø town council every year after 1860. Florø Airport
Florø Airport (, ) is a regional airport serving the town of Florø in Kinn Municipality, in the west central part of Vestland county, Norway. It is situated on the southern shore of the island of Florelandet, adjacent to the town center. Owned and operated by the state-owned Avinor, it features a runway aligned 07/25. The airport had 201,686 passengers in 2014, making it the busiest regional airport in the country. The airport is served by Widerøe with flights to Bergen and Danish Air Transport to Oslo. Bristow Helicopters flies to the North Sea oil platforms at Snorre oil field, Snorre, Visund, Gjøa oilfield, Gjøa and Knarr.
