Flixton is a suburb and Ward (politics), electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. The population of the ward at the United Kingdom Census 2011, 2011 census was 10,786. It lies six miles (9.7 km) southwest of Manchester city centre, in the Historic counties of England, historic county of Lancashire. Neolithic and Bronze Age artefacts have been found locally and the area may have been inhabited then. Middle Ages, Medieval Flixton was a parish within the Hundred of Salford and manor of Flixton, first mentioned in the 12th century. The parish comprised isolated farmsteads and a manor house. Toward the end of the 17th century its population began to rise, continuing through the 19th century, although at a much slower pace than its neighbours. Flixton Railway Station
Flixton railway station is in Flixton, Greater Manchester, in the North West of England. The station, and all services calling there, are operated by Northern Trains. It is west of Manchester Oxford Road on the Manchester to Liverpool Line. History The station once had a small goods yard on the northern side of the main line, the bay platform for which still exists although it is no longer in use. The goods yard itself is now a car park. All the track relating to the goods yard has been removed. In the 1990s, the station building was converted into a Henry's Table pub and restaurant and then into a nightclub and bar called Brunel's. It was destroyed by fire in 1998 and was demolished in 2001. Flixton Girls' School
Flixton Girls' School (formerly Flixton Girls' High School) is a secondary school with academy status, located in the Flixton area of the borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. The school first opened in 1933 and converted to academy status in 2011. The school now admits girls of all abilities. Flixton Girls' School opened a new, female only, sixth form in September 2013, in partnership with Trafford College. Flixton, North Yorkshire
Flixton is a village in North Yorkshire, England. Until 1974 the village lay in the historic county boundaries of the East Riding of Yorkshire. From 1974 to 2023 it was part of the Borough of Scarborough, it is now administered by the unitary North Yorkshire Council. There is a public house, the Foxhound Inn. History The area was known to have been settled by humans in the Mesolithic era, roughly around 15,000 to 5,000  BP. Evidence of Mesolithic settlers exist at nearby Star Carr, and the post-glacial watercourse of Lake Flixton, which was north of the village. Archaeological excavations in the area have discovered ceremonial mace-heads made from pebble, flints, and ochre crayons believed to be 10,000 years old. Flixton, The Saints
Flixton is a village and civil parish located in the north of the English county of Suffolk. It is around south-west of Bungay in the East Suffolk district and is one of the villages around Bungay which make up the area known as The Saints. The A143 road runs just to the north of the parish border linking Bungay with Harleston and Diss. The north-western boundary of the parish is marked by the River Waveney on the Norfolk border.
