East Oakland is a geographical region of Oakland, California, United States, that stretches between Lake Merritt in the northwest and San Leandro, California, San Leandro in the southeast. As the southeastern portion of the city, East Oakland takes up the largest portion of the city's land area. The area is a major hub of African Americans in California, Northern California's black community, with over 50% of East Oakland's inhabitants being black. According to figures from a 2000 U.S. Census, over 87,000 people reside in the East Oakland area. Fitchburg is a city in northern Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The third-largest city in the county, its population was 41,946 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. History Fitchburg was first settled in by Europeans in 1730 as part of Lunenburg, Massachusetts, Lunenburg, and was officially set apart from that town and incorporated in 1764. Bunker Hill Township is a civil township of Ingham County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 census, the township population was 1,966. The township is a rural area in central Michigan. The community is heavily agricultural and local industries include small farms, campgrounds, and Amish businesses. History Bunker Hill Township was established in 1839 by Irish settlers. There are two variations on the origin of the community's name. One allegation is that the town was named for founder Major Johnathan Shearer's father who fought in the famous Battle of Bunker Hill, while another story states that it was named for early settler Abram Bunker. Fitchburg is a city in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 29,609 at the 2020 census. It is a suburb south of Madison and is part of the Madison metropolitan area. The Fitchburg Railroad is a former railroad company, which built a railroad line across northern Massachusetts, United States, leading to and through the Hoosac Tunnel. The Fitchburg was leased to the Boston and Maine Railroad in 1900. Fitchburg Line
The Fitchburg Line is a branch of the MBTA Commuter Rail system which runs from Boston's North Station to Wachusett station in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. The line is along the tracks of the former Fitchburg Railroad, which was built across northern Massachusetts, United States, in the 1840s. Winter weekend service includes a specially equipped seasonal "ski train" to Wachusett Mountain. At long, the Fitchburg Line is the third-longest line in the system (and was the longest until the Providence/Stoughton Line's 2010 extension to T. F. Green Airport and later to Wickford Junction), and ranked as one of the worst lines in terms of on-time performance.
