The first lady of Nigeria is an informal, but accepted title, held by the wife of the president of Nigeria. The current first lady is Oluremi Tinubu who has held the title since 29 May 2023. The Constitution of Nigeria does not create an office for the country's first lady or potential first gentleman. However, official funding and staff have been allocated to the first lady of Nigeria since the country's independence. The first lady is addressed by the title ''Her Excellency''. Oluremi Tinubu
Oluremi "Remi" Tinubu (born 21 September 1960) is a Nigerian politician and current first lady of Nigeria since 2023, as wife of President Bola Tinubu. She was the first lady of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007 when her husband was governor. She was the senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District at the Nigerian National Assembly from 2011 to 2023. She is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) political party. Hadiza Shagari
Hadiza Dawaiya Shagari, also known as Hadiza Shehu Shagari (1940/41 – 12 August 2021) was a Nigerian public figure, former First Lady of Nigeria from 1979 to 1983, and widow of Shehu Shagari. Together with Shehu Shagari's other two wives, Hadiza Shagari served as First Lady of Nigeria when her husband assumed the presidency from 1 October 1979 to 31 December 1983. Turai Umar Musa Yar'Adua (born 26 July 1957) is the widow of the former Nigerian president and former Katsina State Governor, Umaru Musa Yar'Adua. Abdulsalami Abubakar
Abdulsalami Abubakar (; born 13 June 1942) is a retired Nigerian army general who served as the military head of state of Nigeria from 1998 to 1999. He was also Chief of Defence Staff from 1997 to 1998. He succeeded General Sani Abacha upon the latter's death. Fatima Lami Abubakar (born 12 April 1951) is a Nigerian jurist who was the First Lady of Nigeria during the term of Abdulsalami Abubakar from June 1998 to May 1999. Maryam Abacha (; born 4 March 1947) is the widow of Sani Abacha, Nigeria's military ruler from 1993 to 1998. Chief Ernest Adegunle Oladeinde Shonekan (9 May 1936 – 11 January 2022) was a Nigerian lawyer and statesman who served as the interim head of state of Nigeria from 26 August 1993 to 17 November 1993. Maryam Babangida (November 1, 1948 – December 27, 2009) was the wife of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, who was Nigeria's head of state from 1985 to 1993.
