Ferrero International SpA ( , ), more commonly known as Ferrero Group or simply Ferrero, is an Italian multinational company with headquarters in Alba. Ferrero is a manufacturer of branded chocolate and confectionery products, and the second biggest chocolate producer and confectionery company in the world. Ferrero SpA is a private company owned by the Ferrero family and has been described as "one of the world's most secretive firms". It was founded in 1946 in Alba, Piedmont, Italy, by Pietro Ferrero, a confectioner and small-time pastry maker who laid the groundwork for Nutella. Alba, Piedmont
Alba (; ) is a town and ''comune'' of Piedmont, Italy, in the Province of Cuneo. It is one of the main cities in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato. The town is famous for its white truffle and wine production. Kinder () is a brand of chocolate bar produced by Italian multinational confectionery company Ferrero SpA. History In Alba, Piedmont, Alba, Italy, in 1968, Michele Ferrero, proposed to market a product that was palatable to children (with chocolate) and at the same time reassuring to mothers (with milk), thus the slogan "+ milk (latte) - cocoa (cacao)" shown on the package. In 1968, Kinder Chocolate, a milk chocolate with a milky filling, was introduced to the German and Italian markets. The word "Kinder", used as a universal brand, is German for "children". Eat Natural is a cereal bar, toasted muesli and granola maker founded in 1997 in Epping, Essex. In 2005, a journalist said they were "the fastest growing cereal brand in the UK", with between 70,000 and 100,000 bars produced daily, which were distributed to 13 countries. It was established in 1911 by William Joseph Thornton and Joseph Thornton, his father, in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England. Royal Dansk (meaning "Royal Danish") is a Danish brand of butter cookies, manufactured by Kelsen Group A/S. It is known for its distinctive royal blue round tin container. Since 2019, the brand is owned by Italian conglomerate Ferrero SpA, after it acquired the Kelsen Company for $300 million. Overview The "Royal Dansk Company" was started in 1966 in Helsingør, Denmark. Raffaello is a spherical coconut–almond truffle that Italian manufacturer Ferrero brought to the market in 1990. It consists of a spherical wafer which is filled with a white milk cream and white blanched almonds. It is then surrounded by a coconut layer. It does contain lactose, making Raffaello incompatible for consumers with lactose intolerance. First marketed in Italy in 1968, each Pocket Coffee is an individually wrapped shell of dark chocolate containing liquid espresso.
