Fantastic Plastic Records
Fantastic Plastic Records is an independent record label based in London and Brighton. Fantastic Plastic was formed by lifelong music fan Darrin Robson in a County Down attic. Originally specialising in mail-order only rare and collectible records, it soon grew into the opening of two independent local record shops before making the move to release the label's debut vinyl EP by Cork (city), Cork's finest The Sultans Of Ping FC in 1991. Further releases soon followed by bands such as Television Personalities (band), Television Personalities, The Blue Aeroplanes and Ash (band), Ash before the label relocated to London going on to work with bands such as Ikara Colt, Guillemots (band), Guillemots and The Futureheads. Aside from the label FP are also an artist management company FP MUSIC representing Villagers (band), Villagers who have been shortlisted on two occasions for the Mercury Prize for their first two albums ''Becoming a Jackal'' and ''Awayland''. The Immediate
The Immediate were an avant-garde Irish rock quartet, based in Malahide, County Dublin. They made a considerable impact on the Irish music scene despite releasing only one album during the span of their association together. The album was '' In Towers and Clouds'' (2006). It received primarily positive critical feedback and was nominated for the Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year 2006. Alongside their sole album, several extended plays and singles were also released by the band. They split suddenly in May 2007, citing "existential differences". I Like Trains (previously styled as iLiKETRAiNS) is an English alternative/post-rock band, formed in Leeds, West Yorkshire. It draws its inspiration from historical failings and a pessimistic world view. Help She Can't Swim
Help She Can't Swim was an English indie/art rock band, formed in Southampton in 2003. The band released a number of singles on Fantastic Plastic Records, along with an EP and two albums. Before signing to Fantastic Plastic, they had released one EP entitled ''Suck Our Band'' (a phrase taken from the lyrics of their song "Are You Feeling Fashionable?") on the Vacuous Pop label. While originally recorded as a demo, Vacuous Pop were so taken with the 'Suck Our Band' recordings that they had to be given a proper release. Originally a five-piece, one of the founding members, Tom Baker, left the band in 2006, before the release of the band's second album '' The Death of Nightlife'', though still contributed to the recording which had mostly been completed before his departure. The band announced they had split up on 26 May 2008 on their Myspace blog. Fyfe Antony Dangerfield Hutchins (born 7 July 1980) is an English musician and songwriter, best known as the founding member of the indie rock band Guillemots (band), Guillemots. Early life Born in Moseley, Birmingham, in 1980, he moved to Bromsgrove at the age of eight. He studied at Bromsgrove School where he was also the singer in the band Their Senseless Prayer. He was also a music teacher at Cranbrook College for a brief period. Career Compositions Dangerfield composed a choral piece performed at The Lichfield Festival in 2000 – a setting of Christina Rossetti's "A Better Resurrection". This led to a commission from Ex Cathedra Chamber Choir to write a choral setting of one of the 'O Antiphons' for Ex Cathedra's Christmas Music by Candlelight concert in 2000. Kevin MacNeil
Kevin MacNeil is a Scottish novelist, poet, screenwriter, lyricist, playwright and educator. He was born and raised on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. Artistic collaborations MacNeil has collaborated with Hebridean musician Willie Campbell. In 2011, they released the album ''Visible From Space'' together. Teaching and fellowships MacNeil has undertaken teaching posts and writing residencies in Sweden (Uppsala University), Bavaria (Villa Concordia), Shetland, the University of Edinburgh, and Kingston. He has held the Hawthornden Fellowship and was Inaugural Recipient of the Iain Crichton Smith Bilingual Writing Fellowship. He has been a judge for the Highland Book Prize, the Wigtown Poetry Prize and the Scottish Book Trust New Writers' Award. William Campbell (Astrid Member)
Astrid is a guitar-pop foursome formed in Glasgow in the mid-1990s, but with strong ties to Isle of Lewis in the Hebrides, Scotland. The group released three studio albums, as well as several singles and EPs, before breaking up in 2004. History Willie Campbell, Charles Clark and Gareth Russell were childhood friends who moved from the Isle of Lewis, off the West coast of Scotland, to Glasgow in the mid-1990s. There, the three began writing songs together; Campbell on vocals, Clark on acoustic guitar and Russell on bass guitar. They then met up with drummer Gareth Thom and began rehearsing in 1997. The Buffseeds were an English indie pop band formed in Exeter, Devon, England, in 1999, consisting of Kieran Scragg on lead vocals and guitar, with Joel Scragg on bass, Ella Lewis on drums and Neil Reed on keyboards. They were active between 1999 and 2004. They are best known for the song "Sparkle Me", which featured in the ABC series ''Grey's Anatomy'', Season 1, episode 5 - "Shake Your Groove Thing".
